Remco fell off April 4th and needs to be on an upward trending curve by the 29th, 3 weeks!. He is climbing in the front, able to stay in the front. He put down a good ITT, and his behavior on and off the bike has him on message, of scientific rehab return.

There are so many athletes use that style of evasive communication about their form and fitness that it’s surprising you find it noteworthy. Because they are representatives of their teams and sponsors they don’t have much choice in whether to respond to pre-race interviews (although some find ways to bail out). So each rider develops a style of responding. I thought Remco looked pretty good, tbh. He measured his losses and had a bit left at the end to hold the gap. Now the question is how much can he improve his climbing form in the next three weeks?
This. Remco just needs to steady the ship and fight on, whilst focusing on getting the greatest efforts in his legs without exausting himself. The GC here is secondary. He did a fine job yesterday. He could have totally blown, but settled down into suffering and limited his losses. He must continue to do this today and tomorrow and focus thereafter on trimimg down without power loss over the next weeks.

Vlasov, a good climber but not a topclimber, did a lot more work than Landa and ended third.Then Remco loses another +10 seconds without Landa. He truly sacrificed himself and limited the damage for Remco, if only he would have been able to ride his own race. He was chasing after Vlasov and then had to turn back!
What about Kuss ? He was destroyed. But I don't read comments about the Vueltawinner 23. The same Kuss considered by many as the leader of the Vismateam in the case Vingegaard is not starting the Tour. Well ? If Evenepoel was dropped like a stone, the better climber Kuss was dropped like a huge boulder.
Specifically Van Wilder, and in a less extend Landa, performed very poorly to poorly in the time trial. Then it is logical that Evenepoel, who also wore the yellow jersey, was protected again. Of course not a potential winner. But in the absence of Vingegaard, the leader of the team. It was often written here that during the Vuelta 23 Evenepoel was relegated with more than 16 minutes by Kuss. Then comment must also be made about Kuss.
