Who knows, maybe. The climb is 1.2 km long and almost 10%. Maybe Pogacar and Vingegaard will decide to have some fun and distance the rest.

I actually don't think GC action is entirely impossible tomorrow.

Other than the downhill from the last categorised climb, it's basically uphill the last 40 K, after a long descent from Massif Central.

It's a perfect opportunity for the GC teams to drill it to thin the herd, and then launch the captains up the last climb, because nobody is catching them back in that terrain, except maybe MvdP - and he is likely going with them.

I found the profile of the climb(s) here:

I get that, but it's not the Tour, we need action now!
Yeah, but the reason there are sprinters stages in the 1 week preparation races is, that the sprinters are part of the Tour team too and they need preparation with the teammates they are riding the tour with (and for).

Because the sprint stages are too easy and the hilly stages are too hard in the first week. Correct call IMO. Mads needs stages in between to win against these boys
I don't think you understand: What I find weird is that the sponsor apparently has the final say in which of the teams big stars are being sent to the Tour.
I agree it's the correct call, I just don't think a sponsor should make it.

Fair point, but I think he could be a favourite in Stages 4, 7, 15, and 21. Milan does have more opportunities overall, though (to my count, six, with the potential addition of the Toulouse stage).

Looking at the last climb of tomorrow's stage: 1,21km at 9,6% average, 12km from the finish line.

I think we might be in for a treat. :)

That's not what's shocking. You see, money talks. That's fine. It's the same as UAE bosses demanding Pogacar to ride the UAE Tour.
What's really shocking is why the hell wouldn't said sponsor also demand Mads Petersen to be in the Tour??? It's not like he wouldn't be able to ride the Giro+Tour.
And their skills don't even really overlap outside of both being good at sprinting, so there's no reason not to have both at the biggest GT of the year, especially considering how on form Mads has been all season.

Because we just like watching grass grow.
I think the varying perspectives on theenjoyment of stages like this is due, in part, by where we live. I’m watching from 6:00am or so till 7;30 (whenever it finished) while having my several cups of morning coffee. Lovely way to start the day. So for some of us there’s no “what a waste of time I could have been riding or fixed the gutters.” There’s nothing I miss by watching; the only thing I miss is when there isn’t cycling to watch.

I expect today to go to a break The beginning of the stage is tough and then its rolling terrain with some bumps. I wonder if Trek can control this stage!

I don't think the big 3 gc contenders will compete for the win on stage 3. They will want to have fresh legs for the TT.

For me, Sundays are for cycling. Nothing else.
At most, I'll do some laundry, if I've been unable to get a slot Saturday (communal laundry room).

I only ride my bike when I need to go places, and since I don't need to go places on Sundays (mostly), I don't ride my bike.
