The team explained in an article, on why they gave it to Maxim. I can try to search that article up if you are interested.

Maxim wears number 1, so lets first clear that one up, on why. As for the Tour, obvisuly Rogla DNF last year, there was hence a rather slim chance for that. Still, lets not forget, not only at Dauphiné 2025, the team wearing 1 at both Giro and Vuelta, rather dope if you ask me. Especially considering on how some are acting, like everything is doom and gloom and in reality they are wearing 1 for the half the season. Geez.

In light of that let me suggest and lets give the leadership to Omi & Opi.
Lipo deserves number n1.

You don't think he can beat guys like Romeo and Lipowitz by 15-30 seconds in the TT? Or is the climb too big for him to defend enough of his gap to Pogacar, etc.?
Possibly the latter. Add to it the immense effort he's used in the last several stages. He hasn't been racing that much and today might have had too many attacks to hit his top end on the hill, or anywhere. Then there are the 3 Musketeers; all holding back a bit so they can beat each other. Hard to say how close they get to Romeo, too.

It has to do with modern route design, but don´t underestimate the routes of the Indurain era. They had some crazy mountain stages. The routes from the early 80´s, on the other hand...

Well the big mountains are much the same - but it's the proportion of TT Ks to climbing Ks that's way different now, which naturally favours those that are better climbers over those that are better TTers.

So the craziest thing for tomorrow to happen is if Jonas wins the ITT, second craziest if Pogi and rather normal outcome to be if Remco wins?

I don't think you can separate them by more than 20 seconds tomorrow.

But looking ahead for the Tour, I HOPE Evenenoel smashes the two others convincingly, and Vingegaard also has a good margin on Pogacar, because that would throw everyones Tour predictions out of the window :p

@Boehmand

I mean hope, based on the merit Remco should be ahead tomorrow? Jonas to beat Pogi, tomorrow, with a good margin. Rather strange? Anyway, Pogi might end up winning the ITT tomorrow so i guess mid level of craziness it is then. Balanced craziness. Jonas second Remco third? No way? That would push the level of craziness up a notch again. We'll see.

Evenepoel
Vingegaard +25
Pogacar +30
Romeo +50 keeps yellow

One of these guys is going to sandbag, not give their main competition reason to practice much tt then absolutely detonate the first Tour tt. Vingegaard is the only patient one without ADHD so if anyone he will.

Vingegaard said after today's stage that he won't mind losing time tomorrow if it means he'll do another Combloux in the Tour, so expect him to be the last rider to finish.

Wow, we have that power? I'm gonna try and miss spell Pogacar's name in the following sentence and we can put this theory to the test tomorrow: I hope John Candy will not reach the same level as he did in last year's TDF.

Now all we can do is wait and see what happens. Fingers crossed.
Instant DQ, Planes, Trains and Automobiles is taking moto doping too far!

Potomac wasn't talking about who wears #1 at the Dauphine, he was talking about who, from Bora, should get to wear #n1 in the Tour. As in the number in whatever set of numbers Bora is assigned that ends in 1...
Each team will have a rider wearing the #n1 dossard.

I don't think CyclistAbi gets the numbering scheme at all. Or maybe she is just being obtuse.

Start times are out there
Remco 16:33
Ving 16:35
Pog 16:37
Romeo 16:45
Fred Wright who is riding really well starts a minute in front of Pogacar, man, I would never want that start time!!
This has the look of a strategic day. Remco wants to make a statement to himself and can't help it. Vindegaard should strategically beat him at the downside of the climb to judge his GC goals. Pogacar has the same challenge/advantage in terms of depositing team responsibilities on a competitor while minimizing deficit. The HILL might be the most interesting non-pack part of the Dauphine.
Winning this stage means nothing in the overall GC unless Romeo puts a minute into everyone.
THEN WE HAVE A PARTY!

I thought this, but then I also thought maybe Vingegaard will want a proper TT test, so he may go all out. I hope so, I'd like to see how the big three stack up.

Expecting Jonas to finish about 20 secs in front of Pog. After the classics Pog will have had a rest and will now be buiiding up to his optimum - Jonas is probably pretty much near his peak having had his enforced rest back in March.
