No he didn't. Him and Benoot had a gap, but Castro just reeled them and Bardet in.

They had about 3s tops, but would have still assisted Castro for a bit whilst trying to break away.

A little bit, but it's just a sidenote. Castro was about to reel in Bardet anyway.
 
Think Bardet's max gap was around 15 seconds, but it does show that there's time to be gained with better technique and less effort than on the climbs. You still have to reel him back. Should be a fun last climb!

Now, if only there was a descent ITT. That would be perfect for Romain.
