I hope French tv have got plenty of wide angle, peloton ass cams, as they are sure going to need them on Saturday.

Lance will climb off at the feed station, as in Corsica, they regularly serve wild bore.;)

I suppose the haters of the"Shack" are related to the guy who punched Merckx in the tour. Really guys show some class. Lance is an A-Hole I give you that.He is still a proven winner

Bernie Madoff was a proven winner, too--right up to the end. I suppose all the people who are shocked and outraged at ol' Bernie are haters.

That is just an odd comparison.

You really think "Bernie Madoff" when you think of Lance Armstrong?

I do not beleive either of those teams will produce a winner in the 10 tour.

Lances' teams for the most part have been fantastic. I do not think that Lances' handpicked team lacks depth or will be weak.

Just wanted to stop by and say...

Yup. They are both complete frauds who both had no reason to continue with their deception other than to stroke their own egos. Armstrong may be worse. Madoff targeted the rich. Armstrong targets those with terminal disease.

Radio Shack is like the ex-high school jock who was a big man on campus. For a year or two the current students remember him. After that the girls are more interested in catching the eye of the current varsity players. When the older guy innapropriately shows up at weekend parties with his stories of how well he is doing working at Big O Tires and starts hitting on the teenagers, he is viewed as creepy.

That is just an odd comparison.

You really think "Big O Tire Employee" when you think of Lance Armstrong?

Attack the man all you like as a rider, but not the effect he's had with fighting Cancer

he has had a positive impact on the fight against cancer. he has inspired thousands upon thousands of people

your biggest claim to fame seems to be inspiring forum fights

Inspired them with lies. Maybe that is great for you and your ends justify the means crowd, but those who believe in truth are not amused.

Armstrong's foundation was set up on the suggestion of a friend when Armstrong did not think he would be able to return to work as a pro. It was always a way for him to personally make money.

Armstrong, the creepy old guy trying to relive past glories by hanging out with the young. Alerto.legstrong mentions the movie Sunset Boulevard, but I think movies made in the 60's might be more appropriate. There were movies with fifty year olds, like James Coburn or Dean Martin, with swinging twenty year olds, dancing, and looking quite ridiculous doing so.

Yep. Lance has always had a strong team, usually the strongest in the peloton.

If Alberto wins this year, with this "weak" Astana team, it will be a testament to his talent and to an overachieving Astana team.

Excellent analogy - I immediately thought of the movie "Grosse Point Blank" where Cusack's character (professional assassin) goes back to his old home town on a job just in time for the high school reunion. He goes to the reunion - a man completely in control of his emotions and confident about his abilities (Contador) and is bumped into by on of the school's leading bullies who always used to pick on him when they were younger.

But now the bully is a fat alcoholic, drOg using loser (Armstrong) and is treated by Cusack as being totally irrelevant and not even worth paying attention to - although later he shows some pity on him and lets the bully read him his "words" which he carries with him on a crumpled piece of paper in his pocket.

In other words, Contador is not even trmotely concerned about Lance or the Shack. He will either be just using the race to stay sharp or will be out to win and watching the REAL contenders from teams other than Shack.

Lance is Uncle Rico, from Napoleon Dynamite. In his world though, he did win the "big game", seven times.

Napoleon is played by AC.

---- Cut to indoor scene at Grandma's house, mid-afternoon, weekday ----

Napoleon Dynamite: Grandma just called and said you're supposed to go home.
Uncle Rico: She didn't tell me anything.
Napoleon Dynamite: Too bad, she said she doesn't want you here when she gets back because you've been ruining everybody's lives and eating all our steak.
Uncle Rico: I'm not goin' anywhere, Napoleon.
Napoleon Dynamite: Get off my property!
Uncle Rico: It's a free country. I can do whatever I want.
Napoleon Dynamite: Get off my property or I'll call the cops on you.
Uncle Rico: Well then do it! Go on!
Napoleon Dynamite: Maybe I will, GOSH!

I like the Napolean Dynomite analogy. Who is Pedro in the Lance Soap Opera?

Who is LaFonda? Chris Horner or Levi Leipheimer? I know Napoleans brother has to be Bruyneel.

Is the wild stallion Vinkurov?

Pedro is Carmichael. Lance dances and he wins. No talent involved.

Uncle Rico reminds me more of Floyd, living in a van out in a field, tossing the football through a swinging tire....na Micheal Ball is more like Uncle Rico.

The 3 part stage race is low on the fizz but there's a 7.7km ITT which should allow Contador to show who's boss.

Masterstroke by Alberto knowing Lance will attempt to build the tension for July and will now have to face off eariler.

http://www.letour.fr/2010/CRI/COURSE/us/le_parcours.html

Question now - Does Lance have the ball to turn up and face his the one man who can destroy him. Is he man enough?

With at least one ball less then any rider in the peloton, you know the answer to that. And NO he wasn´t man enough for the task.

It feel safer twittering and bad mouthing.

Question is: coming July will JB drag Uniballer away from the computer or will the gastroenitis hit the Armstrong-camp once more?

Questions, questions, questions...

There are other strong riders in this race other than LA and AC. Heaven forbid we talk about them:rolleyes:

This thread is called "the showdown" because it's the first chance for what some media has recently upgraded to "fierce rivalry". It's meant to be about the two guys. But it's Wednesday, and I'm sure if one of those sticky threads appear with map, profile, contenders, etc., people would probably discuss the whole event there.

But on Tuesday, Contador put in a tough training day on some of the best climbs available to him, while Armstrong traveled from Nice to Paris with his baby mama to visit a palace and give a <s>bribe</s> thoughtful gift to President Sarkovy.

Fair enough...Still think there should be a generalised thread on the race.
