While to me Lim's entire demeanor as it comes across in his wording gives me the feeling that he's lying through his teeth about a lot of things, I'd be careful to write off claims of bullying too quickly (which I don't necessarily think you're doing in this post, it's just the latest to respond to with my general point).

After all, Floyd is the guy who tried to blackmail Greg LeMond with knowledge of his child abuse. I love Floyd's pithiness and don't-give-a-$hit attitude as of late, but I can't forget that this was one of the most disgusting and bullying moves I've seen in doping-related history. I would be entirely unsurprised if he treated Lim like crap sometimes. That said, it's also evident to me that Lim is likely clinging to that piece of relative truth to deflect from everything else and muddy the waters, which is stupid and also reprehensible. Maybe the easiest axiom to subscribe to in professional sport, that they're all liars and a$$holes, applies here.

NO he isn't.
It was a 'friend' of Floyd's who was trying to 'take things into his own hands'..
I won't mention his name in here as there are a couple others here who have more knowledge than I..

I believe Floyd was 'very unhappy' with this action..

That's exactly what I thought. Floyd was no saint. He did a lot of bad ****, and I think he can be forgiven for much of it because he came clean like a man, admitted it, helped do some good for the bad, apologized to Greg at least, and hasn't been trying to act all sanctimonious since but kept quiet.

But he was a bully, an evil person. So some of what Lim said might very well be true.

Correct. Difference being he picked up the phone to LeMond and spoke to him without the media.

Armstrong calls the person to say he's sorry and says 'let's meet up'. The next call is to a newspaper who will cover the apology!

I think also the dynamic of the situation at the time was very complex. There was no "one truth".

And one might remember Papp was USADAs star witnesses whilst he was still trafficking drugs. Bit hard not to be annoyed at that hearing!

No excuses but there's reasons and reasons worth listening to. And on of those reasons was another guy going totally off pieste.

He had data to show Floyd was clean? Did he say that. Would be interesting if he did because we've been hearing a lot of that type of argument lately.

From memory one article at the time showed Floyd's average power for the stage was less than what he was doing in training.

If that can be considered proof of cleans.

It was Floyd's manager at the time. You can mention his name, since the whole thing played out in public the following day at the arbitration, when Greg was on the stand, at which point Floyd's attorney summarily fired him in front of everyone.

From my understanding, Landis and Lemond have talked about it and come to their own terms. I find it really hard to believe that Landis didn't know it was going to happen, but I think he did what he could to atone for it.

LOL @ Lance aspiring to be the next Peter North. Instead of blood bags, Lance would use a strategically hidden mayonnaise bags for the money shots. If caught, he would calmly claim: "Everyone cheats. I'm just leveling the playing field."

My favorite part:

“I truly believe that, at least for American cyclists, the sport is healthier than when I found it. We can mourn and perseverate the past ad nauseam or we can keep moving forward. At this point, I choose to move forward - to continue to make tomorrow better and to help make sure these same mistakes are not repeated again. I just hope that rather than hate, judge, or feel cheated, that our community will choose to do the same - to move forward without forgetting and to ride, not for greed or fame, but for the unbridled joy and love that the simple act of cycling brings us.”

Can somebody PM me a barf emoticon?

Thanks, Hitch. You've summed up my own feelings better than I could myself.

I explained my thoughts earlier to a few friends, badly, - 'I'll always be grateful that Floyd eventually decided to destroy armstrong - but I will always be annoyed that for a long time he decided to mimic him'.

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery...just look at how may incredibly skinny cyclists, who have actually gained power, there are this year...

Lots of people are imitating Froome...sorry, lots of people were imitating Armstrong...

Fresh out of barf emoticons, but I 'truly believe' this makes me want to get my out my very own 1964 Schwinn Stingray, crack open a a case of Budweiser, do a wheelie.. and crash into a tree.

I really think she missed on the title of the book. "Circle of jerks" would have been much better.

Not so sure about that. As it turns out, Juliet may have nailed it with the title. More than she even knew.
