I´m looking to upgrade my basic featured computer to one that has climb degree (slope) as well as all the other features. I´d appreciate any suggestions. Thanks

Garmin Edge 500 has gradient and VAM, and although they are interesting to have, I find them completely useless.

Gradient on the edge isnt much use for normal riding, but its nice on pre plotted routes to see whats coming up.

Im not overly convinced of its accuracy though.

I do however recommend the edge. My 605 is ace, although i wish now id got the 705

i use a specialized elite with altimeter functions its small wireless and works fine. i have also used an isport(power also) which was ok but to big and bulky and had wires.

I use the Sky Mounti Inclinometer in tandem with a Garmin Edge 205.

I use a Sigma Rox 8. It has gradient, VAM, cadence, HRM. You can also change your own batteries unlike the Polar.

Nokia

My Nokia e71 has a very nice application that integrates GPS, altitude, speed and even a bluetooth hrm is available from Polar. I know there's a more modern model than the e71. I just don't know what it is....

I understand a similar app is available on the Google-based phones.

RDV, where can I get one of these? From guitars to bikes, nothing beats analogue.

To the OP, if you're after something cheaper than a Garmin and more like a normal cylecomputer, I use a Ciclomaster 215A - it has an altimeter that's very consistent. About $US160.

They're great, and don't have to pay out the nose for something in digital form that you can't trust due to rate of error. Got mine a loooooong time ago when I used to sales rep for Torelli. Turns out a friend of mine works at a shop in Portland and has them in stock now.
