I would like to put on about 8-12kg however I have a fast metabolism and I find it a bit hard to eat alot of food.

I am thinking of putting on some weight by increasing the amount of calories I consume to about 2500. However, if I exercise, do I need more calories?

I have tried to get around 2500 calories and I find it quite hard.

Anyway does anyone have any tips so I give it a good crack?

I think most here could better advise you on how to lose weight ? :) .

Seems your fast metabolism is your challenge. I would say the better and healthier way to gain weight is to add lean muscle rather than look at your caloric count which might also overlook the quality of food you put in your mouth? Protein powders may help too? But others may have better advice?

First thing to consider is your genetic background - what's the body type of your parents, and any siblings?
It's very difficult to fight against your DNA ! Best you can do is to find an exercise and nutrition plan that will work WITH YOU.
For cycling, what you need is good power-to-weigh ratio, aerobic endurance, and good short-term max power (for breakaway, short climbs, etc.

Nutrition should include about 25 grams of protein soon after an exercise session. During long rides, be sure to be getting enough calories to fuel your energy usage. I use whey protein, and Gatorade.

Example (I'm an old guy (77yo) so my growth hormones are minimal). About a year ago I increased my gym strength training in an attempt to add muscle strength and size, I actually lost weight (mostly fat and waist size) and have increased strength, but not much change in physical appearance except now look more 'wirey' rather than chubby. And I'm happy with how that is working for me - no delusions about becoming a barrel chested 'big guy'.

Maybe visit some local gyms to talk with their staff and trainers about what you can reasonably expect.
