On the other topic. They kinda grew on me by the end of the Tour, but the bottom line is that unlike Eurosport, NBC had guys who were legit Grand Tour GC contenders in the studio over the last few years with VDV and Horner. Bookwalter was a solid domestique no doubt and did loosen up as the race went on but Christian is a natural and I actually enjoy him when he is the side man during the Vuelta.

Chris Horner is really sore about being axed by NBC. He keeps referring to it on his terrific youtube broadcasts.
I haven't been keeping up with Horner's relationship with NBC, but maybe he was just a little too non-neutral and not benign enough for the casual fans? A platform like a major network probably wasn't looking for somebody like him... I dunno. I like Horner anyway.

VDV on the motorbike was incredible, it was like he was born to do that job. so much better than anyone else i've seen on any other coverage. Bob Roll is also great, they both have improved so much over the years, they are my two favorite cycling commentators by far. even Phil seemed more lucid and engaged in the race than he has in years, he made far fewer mistakes this year. it was so nice to listen to them after suffering through the Giro with the clowns on GCN.

Words you don't hear very often. Thankfully.

oh? tell me why he's bad then. you can't because you probably rarely ever listen to him. he runs laps around every single GCN commentator. he's much better than he was 20 years ago when he was on the Lance hype train.

I only watched the first two stages but Bob and Phil were missing the action and didn’t even notice Vinge was on Pog’s wheel or that Pog got dropped. Reminds me of Cav’s first win in 2021 when they didn’t even notice him until he was passing Philipsen.

I remember that, Phil didn't see Vingegaard and Bob corrected him.

I'd rather announcers make honest mistakes than all of the banter and meme-y stupidity that goes on in the GCN broadcasts any day.

Bob did correct him but he didn’t know Vinge was there for awhile as well.

Crazy to think though that he used to be in the production table and not main commentary.

Bobke is much improved. His worst was when he was the studio stooge.
I would listen to the NBC feed if they it was a commercial free option.

That would be nice and I think it’d be good but Nico has grown on me.
I Love Nico and McCrossan has grown on me.
Bob has grown up, is no longer the class clown. But I'll pick the World Feed (it's Not GCN) anytime.
Today GCN had San Sebastian and it was Hatch. I'm not too fond of him.

Keenan is absolutely awful, one of the worst in the sport

the world feed was absolutely unwatchable when it was Keenan-McEwen. ugh.

Not a fan of Keenan, as previously pointed out re: the drab monotone. But I'm surprised to see positive comments about McCrossan, who out of all of the English-language commentators I've heard in my lifetime, is the absolute worst. Dull, says nothing I cannot see on the screen, mispronounces names (which is unforgiveable if you're doing the international feed) and sounds like he's sucking on a lollipop during quiet spaces between his inane commentary. I'll occasionally watch the UCI Channel broadcasts, but always on mute if he's the commentator.

I love McCrossan. Unlike people like the Eurosport commentators he isn't under the impression that cycling is an exciting sport. It's like golf or baseball (cricket?) commentary. Very relaxing when seeing the scenery roll by.

McCrossan is good because he's not annoying, that's a huge factor when you're watching 4 hours a day. he doesn't get on my nerves at all. I don't care if they make mistakes, I can follow the race myself without any help. just dont scream and yell or make stupid ass jokes.
