Most people probably think Cavendish won the Tour the last couple years.

If you could please tell me what page the last post about a transfer or a transfer rumour was, I'd be grateful. Thanks.
What type of rider is Posthuma? Mainly Classics??
El Pistolero said:Than why has Cadel Evans more than twice the hits in google than Mark Cavendish? Google is a very useful instrument to check how popular someone really is you know.
spalco said:That's a good point actually, admittedly. Thanks for contributing some objective data. I have to point out though that the vast majority of searches for Evans and Gilbert comes from Australia and Belgiums respectively, whereas Cavendish is more even. And Lance Armstrong is almost nothing on google trends, so this metric can't be the definitive measure imo.

And no, the Tour winner will always be more known than a sprinter.
It's irrelevant because I'm not building up my argument solely around Gilbert. I'm saying Cav isn't the most known cyclist in the world. I'm saying that people like Contador, Andy Schleck and Cadel Evans are more known than Cav. I put Phil in there and if Valverde returns I'll add him as well.

The Tour was on the news more in the UK than Cavs WC win! A lot of people only think cycling exists in July.
I would even put ASchleck was well know. I know a few lads in the office know of him and they dont follow cycling.
theyoungest said:It's not a hyperbole, the Tour does attract about 2 billon viewers every year. I don't know about single stages, but my guess is that it will be more than 4 million![]()
Monuments are only watched by (moderate) cycling fans.
The Hitch said:lol thanks for that, never saw it before.
Funnily Samuel Sanchez has less searches than Philippe Gilbert.
BUT.
Samu Sanchez has more
Together they would make some kind of super cyclist, with GT podiums, jerseys, and an olympic gold medal.
Like putting batman and superman together.
Because i said he would ride the Tour. When i say Frances number 1 gt contender im not talking about Pierre Rollzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Timmy-loves-Rabo said:MMM... No way are the schlecks and contador more well known in Australia, a country where cycling isn't that big.
I'd say after cadel probably cav is most well known here.
being anglosaxon probably the reason.

Alberto Contador 276,000 followers
Mark Cavendish. 169,000
Cadel Evans. 118,000
Phil Gilbert. 373
Just sayin.
