Lance is a model as the French president says about his awesomeness.

How can you criticize such an inspiring individual such as Lance. Lance is truly an inspirational inspiration!

Lances' quotes in cycling news are magnificant!

More ! You can carve them out of stone and put them into a holy temple for our progeny.

Temple only opened every 7 years with a big, yellow celebration.

Ommmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. :)

Thank you so much for more Lance quotes.

http://www.cyclingweekly.co.uk/news/...interview.html

I was speaking last night with my wife about his holiness Lance. He is really like a host animal who as he moves through life, swimming, cycling, driving, flying ,attracts parasites.

The parasites bite his flesh, suck his vital juices and fall by the wayside regurgetataing ugly accusations at my prince. Very unfair to the man Lance Armstrong who has given so much of himself to the sport.

As far as my 24 hour banishment from the clinic my wife told me to eat the forbidden apple offered to me by the serpent. I did and I spewed some unkind words, for that I am deeply sorry to all. I know I was offensive and my wife takes full responsability for my actions. Flicker

Another 39 quotes - for his birthday.

39. "They say stress causes cancer. So if you want to avoid cancer, don't come to the Tour de France and wear the yellow jersey, it's too much stress."
Cyclingnews July 1999.

38. “The constituency that I represent is now cancer survivors.” Vanity Fair Sept. 08.

37. "I haven't made a dime off Livestrong.com. Obviously the .org is the foundation, .com is a subsidiary of Demand Media. Both the foundation and myself have equity in Demand". ESPN July 2009.

36. "Are you calling me a liar or a doper?" CyclingNews July 1999.

35. Are you in favour of retroactive testing? Yes. They give you the option when you are tested – can we use your specimen in the future for experiments? I always check ‘yes’. Cycling Weekly Dec. 2008.

34. Do you have any Therapeutic Use Exemptions? No. Never have. Never? What about the cortisone? Well, obviously there was the cortisone.
Cycling Weekly Dec. 2008.

33. "I didn’t go out of my way to make friends with the French media. In fact, I was combative. I was unavailable, arrogant, and I was that way to a lot of them. Anybody who wrote a negative article: Done. Never speak to them again. I won’t do that this time. I mean, these daily or weekly [phone conferences]? Everyone’s invited. From the bitterest of rivals I’ve ever had in the pressroom: Get on call. If you’ve got a question, ask it.… They’ll realize that I’m not messing around.” Vanity Fair Sept. 08.

32. Have you ever taken EPO? "Yes, during the fall of 1996. Whenever I was ill." Cycling Weekly Dec. 2008.

31. "Specifically, he has never discussed EPO with me and I have never used it." Active.com July 2001.

30. “The most glaring thing is the misconception that I was the owner of the team. That’s completely untrue. No ownership, none at all.” NYT July 2010.

29. Do you have any ownership interest in Tailwind Sports? "A small one." When you say a small one, can you give me an approximate percentage as to what that would be, if you know? "Perhaps ten percent." SCA Testimony Nov. 2005.

28. Lemond is a thorn in your side now. How can peace be made with him?
I don’t spend a lot of time thinking about Greg. Cycling Weekly Dec. 2008.

27. If you win another Tour or three, will you retire, sit around on the couch and get fat? "I'll be a fitness junkie forever, not out of shape like some guys. But I'm not naming names...achoo-lemond!"
During that sneeze one side of your mouth mentioned Greg LeMond, your boyhood hero, who won three Tours but now rips you. He suspects you're a doper. What's your relationship with LeMond?"None. What he did in 1989 and 1990 was phenomenal. But Greg's not even worth talking about today. And I don't need to hear from him—he'd only shove his foot farther down his mouth". Playboy June 2005.

26. "I want to be the guy when I'm done I don't want to have any bitterness toward the sport, I don't want to have any bitterness toward the new generation. ... I hope I have the class to do that." Sports Illustrated August 2001.

25. "I'm disappointed and dismayed that for the past four years, Greg has continued to question my performances and my character." Velonews July 2004.

24. "We are going to have an opportunity to tell the truth to the authorities, and I hope Greg LeMond will tell the truth about 1989. He's going to have to tell the truth. I have nothing to hide." WSJ July 2010.

23. "You've done your job. We are here to talk about a couple of things, like the Global Clinton campaign and my comeback to cycling. It's time for us, everybody in this room, to move on. We are not going to go there, I appreciate you being here – next question." LA's press conference on his testing. Sept 2008.

22."Just relax" Twitter to Simone Lemond Oct 2010.

21. Now, when you -- when you started going to see Doctor Ferrari in the mid '90s, what were the reasons why you wanted to use him? Well, other than he had a lot of experience, had been in cycling for a long time, or actually been in endurance work for a long time, had heard very positive things about him, and his knowledge of cycling, really, the numbers of cycling, other than that, that's about it. SCA Testimony Nov. 2005.

20. Chris has grown to trust Michele's opinion regarding my testing and my form on the bike and lately, we have been specifically working on a run at the hour record. I do not know exactly when I will do that, only that I will in the near future.
Cyclingnews July 2001.

19. ""Unfortunately, the witch hunt continues and tomorrow's article is nothing short of tabloid journalism," Armstrong wrote on his Web site. "I will simply restate what I have said many times: I have never taken performance-enhancing drugs." ESPN Aug. 2005.

18. Okay. How much did you give? I think 25,000. SCA Testimony Nov. 2005.

17. You made a gift to the UCI back in the early 2000s to buy anti-doping equipment. How much was it? "Er…Well, I can get you an exact number. Around 25,000 dollars. This was a long time ago." Cycling Weekly Dec. 2008.

16. Okay. Like they didn't buy some specific equipment or something with it that you're aware of? It wasn't earmarked... "Which part of I don't know do you not understand?" So you have no idea why you gave $25,000 to UCI at all. And you don't even know if you called anyone before-- "I don't know." SCA Testimony Nov. 2005.

14. ''But we reached a point where we can't really tolerate it anymore, and we're sick and tired of the allegations. We'll do everything we can to fight them. They're untrue. Enough is enough. I'm personally very frustrated.''
NYT June 2004.

13. So, why not, as Bob asked, why not sue them all? "You know, lawsuits are two things: They're very costly and they're very time-consuming. And fortunately, cycling has been great to me and I have the money and the resources to do something like that, but you know, I'm retired..." On Larry King Aug. 2005.

12. "When I peed in that bottle, there wasn't EPO in it. No way." On Larry King Aug. 2005.

11. "I was protecting the interests of the peloton, the story of Simeoni is not a fair story...there's a long history there. All (journalists) want to write about is parts of the story. It's a long history...a guy like (Simeoni), all he wants to do is to destroy cycling...and for me, that's not correct. And I when I went back to the group they said 'chapeau'...thank you very much. Because they understand that (cycling) is their job and that they absolutely love it and they're committed to it and don't want somebody within their sport destroying it. So...for me it's no problem to go on the wheel, to follow the wheel" CyclingNews July 2004.

10. “First off, I did not chase Simeoni down,” Armstrong said. “I was simply following his wheel. That is the truth of the matter. I never bridged across to Simeoni. He was in front of me, people were attacking, he accelerated, and I stayed on the wheel". Velonews Nov. 2008.

9. Celebrity and fame, those words make me uncomfortable. Some athletes are addicted to fame, but that's not what gets me off. Playboy June 2005.

8. How many drug tests have you taken? "Maybe 200 in the past six or seven years. Not as many before that because I wasn't as successful. Maybe 100. So the total is around 300". For the record, how many of those tests were positive? "Zero". Playboy June 2005.

7. I think this will be the most advanced anti-doping program in the world. I'm going to talk about it today; beyond today, I'm not going to tell you how clean I am, and I'm not going to insinuate how dirty the others are.
I'm going to ride my bike, I'm going to spread this message (about the fight against cancer) around the world, and Don Catlin can tell you if I'm clean or not." Washington Post Sept. 2008.

6. "I hope I can be smart enough and intelligent enough to walk away when it's time, and I hope I can say a record or number of victories won't motivate my decision to keep forcing something that doesn't want to be forced". Sports Illustrated August 2001.

5. However, I have always said that I have zero tolerance for anyone convicted of using or facilitating the use of performance-enhancing drugs. Statement Oct 2001.

4. Why have so many ex-US Postal riders tested positive or admitted doping retrospectively? "I don't know. We’re not in charge of them when they leave. They never tested positive under our guidance."

3. (On Dr. Ferrari) Are you still his friend? "Yes. The way I was raised you stick by somebody and you have faith in them. And he's still a friend. I'm not going to lie about that. We don't work together anymore, obviously, now. But he's not a bad person

2. Do you believe that Floyd Landis doped? No. I think in a normal American court of law, he’s not guilty. Those arbitrations with USADA and CAS are tough. The arbitrators are in the business of arbitrating in favour of the anti-doping agencies. If I was a juror, I don’t think there was guilt beyond reasonable doubt." Cycling Weekly Dec. 2008.

1. "It's our word against his word, I like our word. We like our credibility. Floyd lost his credibility a long time ago". ESPN May 2010.

0. Are you going to tell the truth to the Federal prosecutor investigating this? Absolutley. Interview May 2010.

Lance is honest and fortright. Of course he has been deceived and fooled by men like Floyd and Greg. Lance is a trusting, warm and virtuous man.

Yes I agree, Lance Hendrickson is a great guy - I particularly liked him in Aliens

(and yes, I will probably delete this post at the same time as other off topic or trolling posts such as the one above)

... PS: It's just a bunch of quotes. IMO Many of them aren't particularly flattering . Read them and form your own opinion - or don't read it at all if Mr. Armstrong fills you with such loathing...

This thread has been completely subverted to an LA good v LA bad thing again. How incredibly tedious.

It is just a bunch of quotes, you're right. It's a flabby article - not "pathetic", not "rock-bottom" but pretty weak, in my opinion.

Too many weak articles = lower quality CN. It's just Digg-fodder or whatever the kids are socially engaging with these days.

That's what this thread should have been about. Why on earth it's in the Clinic, I've no idea. Perhaps it's me who should make like a hockey player and get the puck outta here. :)

I just copied and paste........ they're not my quotes, but agree some are pathetic ;)

I was imitating the OP who found the article to be so intolerable.

I personally find Lance's quotes interesting to read once in awhile so thanks for that

So did Cyclingnews redeem itself with its article about Novitsky?

I think it did, but I mean to point out that it has nothing to do with what I think about Armstrong. :)

It was a bit melodramatic in the opening but I suppose Eliot Ness made good copy in his day.

Much rather read an article like this than a dry list of rehashed quotes, anyway. :p
