So... How *did* Mr. Ryan defame Sir Brailsford? Which part of his reporting was inaccurate? Or should I just shove this post up my 4rse while you walk away?

He compared him to Johan Bruyneel, by that he's implying that Sky is running a organized doping team.

...or he could be seeing similarities in how both deal with (or avoid) the media in times of crisis.

No he didn't. Bruyneel and Armstrong were well known to hold press conferences with friendly journalists, which is what Mr Ryan alluded too. Brailsford was the one who brought up "organized doping".

They prove Brailsford is a liar and a fraud.

This is not a court of law, we have the well known history of the sport to quote, we have the history of the culture to dope to point to, we have the failed anti-doping to point to, we have a President who failed to implement any of his election promises, we have a failure of transparency, we have kenacort injections, we have hired doping doctors, we have former USPS people hired, we have former dopers hired, De Jongh, Barry, Knaven, we have banning media to point to, we have an investigation to point to, we have 55 vials of kenacort to point, patches of testosterone to point to, riders coming from the grupetto to point to and if all that doesn't add up to evidence, i cannot help you....or maybe you are trolling like a paid intern would.

Barry Ryan on Newstalk @7.30pm

newstalk.com

Wonder if Ryan happened to record the conversation with Sir? One would think a reporter would have such a device ready and going if he was already at a media event. Would love to hear the audio with tone of voice, or better yet, see a video from one of the other reporters standing nearby.

That's so stupid, picking a fight with the press like that. Is Brailsford trying to achieve something or just losing his mind?

The article that the author speculates "Sir Dave" took exception to is filled with speculation and low base attacks on Brailsfords character. It is a shame as the same article, containing the same facts but written in a less emotive and more professional manner would have worth a read. The author can have no complaint about being excluded from a media event or if he is suspected of trolling to try and make a name for himself.

Bet Brailsford did not ban Moore, Williams or Fotheringhams from today's presser? They all contribute to the Guardian which has, via Marina Hyde, ripped Brailsford a new one.

I hardly call what Ryan wrote as trolling considering it was Brailsford who in 2009 promised to be transparent and prove beyond doubt that a team could win the tour clean? Team Sky have been anything but.

Brailsford could have sat down with Ryan and put him straight if Ryan was wrong, but Brailsfrod has been hiding from the cycling media since last year.

So you can not figure out when he's saying that afterwards talking about Johan Bruyneel, he's implying that Team Sky is doing the same things like US Postal.

He's rattled - the investigations, the change in press narrative, the fact that it is no longer under his control. There can be few illusions any more about how much Sky are disliked and distrusted and the scales are falling from the eyes of an increasing number of fans. This must put them under pressure from sponsors - I wouldn't want to link my brand to them at the moment. What do they represent? Can't imagine ASO et al are massively happy about the continuing dark cloud around the tour.

No doubt if G weren't injured they would have wheeled him out for a bit of smiling loyalty, jokes and good nature. But who in the team can serve that function now? I'm curious to know what SDB and Sky will try on to turn this narrative around? They've played the sympathy and nationalistic card before, but can't see something like that getting traction in the current atmosphere around team sky.

SDB strikes me as a man with a massive ego. He wants to be respected, to be the expert and guru. But folks have stopped playing ball and he doesn't like being questioned or undermined. You can bet 'Froomey' isn't happy with all this negative attention - not to mention the rise of Landa in a kind of weird Bertie Bromance, the narrative being of talent and panache sacrificed for sticking to the boring ole 'drill it out' plan.

Ah, nemesis. It's a ***.

And this is far more fun to watch than the race itself.

Barry Ryan said nothing defamatory whatsoever. He compared Brailsfords antics (and antics alone) to Bruyneel, and Brailsford acted like a complete chump and took the "implied bait" hook, line and sinker.

Yes, it's probably a deliberate attempt at trolling Brailsford, but he was also clever enough to cover his behind with a clever choice of words. Ryan is at worst a very clever troll and Brailsford is at best a blithering idiot.

Ryan said absolutely nothing out of line. He mentioned JB in the context of his behaviour to the press. He invited - by saying nothing at all - others to draw the obvious parallels. SBD, like a f...g idiot. rose to the bait.

Because, let's face it, why on earth shouldn't Ryan imply there may be parallels? It is a fact that UKAD investigations and a Parliamentary Committee are currently underway. SDB is behaving like asking questions is some kind of outrageous witchhunt or vendetta, as opposed to a legitimate enquiry into his conduct and the management of a professional cycling team.

He did their work for them. What do they always say ? 'Show, don't tell'. Well he showed them...He made himself look more manipulative, more bullying, more petulant, more controlling, and frankly a lot more guilty - in fact, a lot like Lance Armstrong. He dug his own hole.

Long may he keep digging. As someone else said - comedy gold.
