At 7:30 his thumb goes to the G spot
All riders shall henceforth refrain from using their thumbs during races under penalty of being accused of mechanical doping.
I put my thumbs in the same position every time I ride my bike, I wish there was a motor to switch on most of the time... :D
That moment you've got a stupid car driver right behind you, but for some reason he takes ages to overtake you, and you wish you had either a motor or a missile launcher. :D
I usually default to the missle launcher thoughts, they're much more soothing.. :)

That was utterly ridiculous from Cummings, transforming into a mountain goat at 35 and putting a lot of time into renowned climbers whilst riding solo up a Category 1 climb. It's alright though, he has an admirer in David Walsh!

''Got to admire how Steve Cummings targets stages and way he then goes for it. He's got 45sec lead on three chasers with circa 11km to finish.''

''Cummings wins on his own. Brilliant ride. Seven stages so far, four won by Team Dimension Data. Impey out sprinted Navarro for second.''
Today was basically one big climb, not a traditional Tour De France mountain stage. Cummings is one of the many riders in the peloton that could handle the terrain, despite not being a mountain goat.

I'm not even a big Cummings fan, just a pragmatist.

Tomorrow he'll be toast, if not then maybe you guys are right.

Not that I think he's clean either, I just don't think he used a motor for this stage win.

I'm not necessarily stating that he used a motor, but there are red flags raised everywhere based on Cummings performances in the last 12 months heading into his mid thirties. The cheerleading around his performance on Eurosport is ridiculous. Of course he will be toast tomorrow as he isn't riding GC but the fact that he sailed over the mountain flying solo and put time into Navarro and Nibali while doing so was astounding. However, this is cycling where sometimes the laws of physics are defied.

If there's even the least suspicion of cheating, you can bet your life that Brian Cookson will be on top of this, target testing Cav and Cummings, sending their samples to Cologne, and double checking their finish bikes for motors. That's reassuring.

Cummings committed tactical suicide today. I cant see any reason for him attacking like that unless he knew he could rely on some extra watts.
Before his attack the viewers are being shown how Cummings bike is checked with a thermal heat cam and how before the race the UCI have checked for motors with their special device. Its allmost as if the tv director knew what was about to happen.

Proof Cav is doping right there

I've just been a little sick in my mouth.

Our club has a group on FB where we talk about pro cycling. Sometimes I put a dig in here and there about the Dawg and Co but generally I keep my levels down as I dont want to discourage people. I shall let them be deluded and its their choice.

During the Giro all I saw was people slagging off Nibbles saying he was filthy and doped to the gills. So I left, I couldnt stand the hypocrisy.

I wonder what they are saying today? Cummings dumped on Nibs & Navarro. Its a massive middle finger to BC who are shadow w@nking all over about him.

BUT

WTF about Impey!?!

What a joke that is too. I bet they're playing candy crush on them ipads.

Its that blatant hypocrisy of the British media and cycling fraternity who are cheerleading to ridiculous levels that sickens me as well. The D word is rarely ever mentioned in commentary and the back slapping is ridiculous as they all fight for a slice of the pie. And this is all before Va Va Froome even begins tearing it up in the high mountains on his way to becoming an all time great!!

Britain has one of the most notorious libel laws in the world, no surprise the press are walking on eggshells there.

Isn't this just the sort of plucky move that we like to see in cycling?

Who would have been the deserving clean winner, if not Cummings?

Whoever had won the stage today would have got Clinic grief. It's just the way the Clinic works.

You think it's clinic bias at work when questions are asked about a rider who won 4 stages in the highest level stage races in 1 season having had 8 road wins (+ 1 ITT and 1 GC) in his previous 10 pro seasons?
I think the clinic would scrutinize whatever rider won the stage, as it's the nature of the clinic.

It wasn't a derogatory comment, just an observation on my part.

Cummings road away from some pretty grade A riders and made the gap bigger on the climb. Nibali and GVA are not peloton fodder.

That Dim-Data have won so many stages in the 1st week in the biggest race of the season is most definitely clinic material.

That all the other teams have not turned up 'prepared' and 'tuned' for this race is laughable and yet DDD have 4 out of 7 stages.

But hey shoot the posters in the clinic. Duh!

I haven't criticised or implied criticism of anyone. I've asked two questions which are related to each other.

Care to answer?

Plucky winners? Plucky juicers!

I dont believe anyone riding in the peloton is clean.

Nor do I.

So why demonise any individual as if they are somehow different to the others? It's a genuine question. If you can't tell me which of the other riders on the road is more deserving, morally, then there is little meaning to it.

I dont see any demonising!

I see people calling out a team in this case Dimension Data. I see people calling a riders performance dodgy.

I dont see riders being accused of demonic deeds. Just cheating in sport.

This tour is fast it is apparently ahead of its schedule.

Boardman has explained Cummings improvement late in his career. He's "developed self-belief". WTF!

It's a bit of a pointless exercise though, given that they are (probably) all cheating.

Well, I can sympathise with that point of view to a degree, because I share your cynical view.

But, I love the sport, warts and all, and therefore given that it has always been riven with drugs and I see nothing to indicate that will ever change, it seems a bit pointless to keep mentioning the obvious.

I quite like reading some of the stuff in here to do with dodgy team staff, and unearthing of info (although some of the arguments are just nonsense) but now that the race is on it just makes sense to enjoy it. I accept you think differently.
