Doping In Athletics

Page 85 - Get up to date with the latest news, scores & standings from the Cycling News Community.
Mo will win the 10k tomorrow, Steve Cram and Brendan Foster will gloss over Salazar & Adan during commentary, BBC might interview Coe and he'll say, 'we don't have a doping problem, we have a problem if kids don't wanna take up athletics' line, and the UK papers will go with the 'Mo, greatest distance runner in history'.

Does make you sick considering how maligned cycling gets for it's frequently flawed process. Athletics isn't even trying.

Motto for the London WC's should be 'Keep doping & carry on'.

I'm looking forward to the World Champs.
Athletics is like cycling before the hidden motors arrived. At least you can't put motors in running shoes! At least, I don't think you can.

Remember when Ryan Bailey was the only American in their world relays team who hadn't been banned? Not anymore

Link in the tweet is to http://olympics.nbcsports.com/2017/08/03/ryan-bailey-doping-ban/

I simply don't understand* how they can justify 6 months for "a light degree of fault" when he willingly consumed a known high risk supplement.

*so he can run in the worlds thanks to a backdated 6 month ban, so I guess I do understand.

I also don't see how it can be "high risk" when it's known to contain a banned substance. That's not a risk, that's doping. A high risk would be taking some random supplement whose origin you didn't know.

Exactly. Its stupid reasoning. USADA really fell down in this case.

That display from Farah as insane. Ran out wide practically the whole race, showboated to the crowd a few times in the first half, was almost tripped over 2 or 3 times, spent the second half of the race looking into opponents eyes and surveying all around him, then turned on the gas with 600 to go. All at 34 and looked as though he was hardly breathing. Not normal from a very suspect individual. Now for the Bolt show!

Last k in 2:39 and Cram mentioned in one of his last training sessions he ran a 50sec 400 which is mental. The Ethiopian, Kenyans & Ugandans chucked in 62, 61, 63's for the entire race pretty much. Think the slowest lap was a 66. Then on a parade lap with the family, a cute PR move. Hopefully the FBI & USADA aren't too touched by it.

And guess whose presenting the gold medal to Farah!?! PRESIDENT LORD SEB COE! *pssst, we've got yer back Mo...* Oh my gawd...

He obviously hasn't heard the 'don't make it look too obvious' advice. But when was the last time a host nation tested positive one of their gold medal winning athletes?

Yep, no matter how Farah won, he wasn't and he isn't going to get popped. This guy may not have had the drastic transformation Froome has had, but his performances still took a massive upturn since 2011.

Yeah but in fairness he was always a decent runner. Not quite dominating, unbeaten in a major championship track race for six years good, but not bad.

From decent runner to somebody that hasn't lost a race at the majors since 2011. Doubling up in the 5000 and 10000 at one championship is suspicious enough. Doing so in in every major championship since 2011. In Daegu 2011, he won gold in the 5000m but silver in the 10000m.

I agree, it's a joke but worst of all is the excitement from the commentators about how good he is. It's just like the cycling commentators and their rose tinted glasses. What people do for a buck.

Don't expect high morals from Lord Coe. He is after all a descendant from slave owners in the Caribbean Islands.

Hang everyone who is descended from someone who ever did anything questionable. It's only logical.
