Doping in other sports?

Another couple of RFU players added to the UKAD sanctioned list.

One for 15 months (due to complete admission and cop-operation) the other for the standard 2 years.

The second is quite interesting. He was buying HGH from Hong Kong, it got stopped at customs, and UKAD alerted.

Turns out from testing at the WADA accredited lab at IC, there was no HGH present, but use or attempted use comes into play.

Guess those internet order places aren't 100% truthful, who would have guessed?

3. On 20 September 2013, UK Anti-Doping ("UKAD") received a seizure document from the UK Border Force ("UKBF"), informing them that a package from Hong Kong labelled Jintropin (Somatropin) had been intercepted and seized. The package was addressed to Mr Kendrick.

4. Jintropin is a brand name for Human Growth Hormone ("hGH"), which is listed as a Non Specified Substance under Section S2 of The 2013 Prohibited List of the World Anti-Doping Code.

5. The Rugby Football Union ("RFU") was contacted by UKAD on 24 October 2013, and asked to confirm whether Mr Kendrick was a registered player.

6. On 15 January 2014, the seized package was delivered to the Drug Control Centre at King's College London for analysis. The laboratory confirmed on 27 March 2014 that no hGH had been detected in the package's contents.

Toronto Maple Leafs forward Carter Ashton was suspended 20 games without pay Thursday for violating the terms of the NHL/NHL Players' Association Performance Enhancing Substances Program.

Ashton will forfeit $169,185 in salary and under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement the suspension is accompanied by a mandatory referral to the NHL/NHLPA Program for Substance Abuse and Behavioral Health for evaluation and possible treatment.

"The Toronto Maple Leafs support the NHL/NHLPA Performance Enhancing Substances Program and today's decision to suspend forward Carter Ashton," Maple Leafs president Brendan Shanahan said in a statement. "At this time, out of respect for Carter and the process involved, the club will not comment any further."

Ashton released the following statement through the NHLPA:

"I suffered an asthmatic spasm in late August while in a training session getting prepared for the 2014-15 NHL season. One of the other athletes I was training with gave me an inhaler in order to help open my airway, which provided me with immediate relief from my asthma attack. I kept this inhaler and used it a second time early in the training camp upon experiencing another asthma episode. Unfortunately, I incorrectly assumed that there were no problems associated with the use of this inhaler and I used it without checking to see whether its contents were permissible under the NHL/NHLPA Performance Enhancing Substances Program.

"I now recognize that I ingested Clenbuterol, a prohibited substance, through the inhaler. However, at no time was I seeking to gain an athletic advantage or to knowingly violate the terms of the program. I used the inhaler in response to exercise-induced asthma, a condition that my doctor with the Toronto Maple Leafs has since diagnosed and he has prescribed me with an inhaler.

"As a professional hockey player, I recognize that I am responsible for what I put into my body, and I will not appeal my suspension. While I am extremely disappointed that I have let my teammates, our fans and the Maple Leafs organization down, I will work very hard during my suspension to stay in game shape so that I can help out the team when I am able to return."

20 games is only 1/4th of a NHL regular season, not strict enough. Carter has only played in 3 NHL games so far this season, of 12 that the Leafs have played, so he is more an AHL player (or healthy scratch) than a NHL player. Losing out on 170,000$ seems decent, but that also indicates he'll make about 510,000$ during the rest of the season.

Failed the NHL's IQ test... which is almost impossible to fail.

It's good that he is accepting the punishment I suppose.

funny that clen is not approved for human use in the US or Canada.

How'd this moron make what he's claiming is an innocent mistake?

Sports fans are gullible.

Maybe it was a horse asthma inhaler?

Another good thing I just realized:

NHL.com has the suspension listed as the first article under "Top Headlines" and it is one of the five items on the rotating banner (or whatever that is). Now, they may be highlighting it to try and show they are anti-doping, but at least it is easily found.

Unlike a certain UCI...

hockey is seriously a dangerous sport.

remember that russian kid that died after doing blood transfusions. Then there is Letang having a stroke and Timmonens life threatening blood clots.

Not to mention all the concussions. I would never let my child anywhere near that sport.

That is not bad. I wouldn't call it good, but definitely not bad.
However ... "violation of NHL/NHLPA Performance Enhancing Substances Program"? George Orwell would be proud.

Call it what it is: "Doping".

Surprise! ARod admitted he doped to the Feds back in January, after raging in public that he was innocent, that MLB had it in for him, etc.

And you just can't make this stuff up:

Alex Rodriguez urinated on a wall of his cousin Yuri Sucart’s home to send a message and mark his territory, the cousin’s wife told the Daily News in an explosive interview at the couple’s Miami home.

Carmen Sucart, whose husband, Yuri Sucart, is A-Rod’s estranged cousin and alleged steroid mule, blasted Rodriguez for accusing her deathly ill husband of trying to extort the troubled Yankee superstar.

“He is the devil,” she said Thursday. “He is evil.”

A-Rod treated Yuri Sucart like a “slave” and often peppered him with the N-word, the wife added.

“He was not angry,” she added, referring to Rodriguez’s demeanor when he came to her home with the confidentiality agreement. “He was arrogant. You know what he did? He peed outside on my wall, next to the pool. He didn’t ask for the bathroom. He go outside and he just pee right there. He came over, took his thing out and went right there.”

But not to worry, Ms. Sucart, he was just practicing how to beat the tests:

When Rodriguez met with federal investigators in January, though, he explained how Bosch had counseled him on beating such tests. “Bosch advised him to only use midstream urine for M.L.B. drug testing. Bosch told Rodriguez not to use the beginning or end of the urine stream,” The Herald reported, citing the Drug Enforcement Administration report.

Nailing the top female marathon runner and the world number one badminton player in a matter of a few weeks seems like a significant result for anti doping.

I have to agree there, but they still aren't tackling the biggest sports this way. So far, I still hope they will, one day.

she seems determined though to prove that there's a conspiracy behind it:D
