I forgot to mention this from Luis Enrique's press conference on Sunday night after Barca lost again:

http://www.theguardian.com/football/2016/apr/19/barcelona-luis-enrique-my-style-dont-care-dont-like-it

Luis Enrique was also unapologetic for deriding a reporter who had asked him about the team’s fitness levels after Sunday’s 2-1 home defeat by Valencia.

“I have nothing to apologise for. I didn’t show anyone a lack of respect,” he said.

Or the video in Spanish: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jumOH7bzdg0

Basically Luis Enrique's style. if he is asked a question already made he sarcastically portraits the journalist as a dimwit.

He had already said that there was nothing wrong with Barcelona fitness levels which is rubbish by the way.

A top speed of 29.25km p/h for a 1.69 cm 28yo male in the middle of a 90 minute aerobic workout, is nothing to sneeze at. Remember, spinters can get fatigued after doing one 100m race.

30.5

Vardy is 35.2 ;)

Says he just consumed one of those weight losing products didnt know it could be a doping product. Nothing sinister as far as I can see, I consume them regularly never thought of myself as a druggie just helps you with your form.

Yes, they don't do drugs in football. No chance what so ever of it being used as a masking agent. Anyway, I bet max suspension is two weeks...

Over 1/4 (26 %) of Messi's goals have come in the last 15 minutes of football games and almost 1/5 (18%) in the last 15 minutes of the half, the 2 periods where players are most tired.

By comparison only 1/10th (10%) come in the first 15 minutes of the game and less than 1/7th (14%) in the first 15 minutes of the second half, the 2 periods where players are most fresh.

Its almost as if the more tired players get the more Messi scores

Tbf, one possible explanation for this could be that other teams park the bus against barca, concede, and only start taking risks late on, which would give Messi and co more space to play with in the final 15 mins.

When I was an athlete I routinely consumed one of those muscle gaining products. Nothing sinister - just helped me with my form. Still they threw me out of sport?!

To play football Klopp style you are going to need to be fitter than fit. Tip of the iceberg.

was Shane Warne's mom his supplier?

Yet statistics show the strongest teams usually also have the players who covered the most miles... Most important thing in modern footbsll is the ability to both attack and defend from every position. Which means sprinting up and down a 100m field. Yeah...i'm sure PEDs or endurance enhancing drugs are not usefull there.

What AMAZES me is that there is no sanction being suggested against his club, who have benifited from his performance, which is turning out to be enhanced by illegal medication. Did he not even score a goal in the game?
Sorry, but in my book, his club should be thrown out of the competition he was caught cheating in.
That's a no brainier, surely?

That would involve interrupting the gravy train!

Not necessarely.
Barcelona are leading the Spanish League and cover less distance than the opposition in almost every game.
On the other hand Atletico who are second with the same points are off the charts. They have covered more distance than the opposition in every game but two, one of them with a player sent off.
Against Barcelona they got sent off two players, one in the first half and ended up covering two kms more.
101 vs 103.
Barcelona this season if they are leading is down to sheer quality. Their physical performance is one of the worst in the league.

I have found a mobile app where all the stats for every game in la liga regarding distance covered are supplied.
When I have time I will make a breakdown. I wouldn't be surprised looking at a few games that Barcelona are in the bottom three or thereabouts.

And I bet you that a similar list of distance run over the last 12 months, will have the likes of Suarez, Messi, Neymar, Iniesta nearer the top.

Its easier for these other teams to outrun Barcelona when they don't have all those Champions League, Copa Del Rey and international games to play on top of the La Liga.

That is a point. If you count total distance run it is obvious that Barcelona having played more games will have the most used players covering more distance. Although with Messi I would not be too sure, considering that he runs 20-30% less than your average player. :D

But again, Barcelona do not need to match physically most teams to beat them.
By the way, I have the stats for this season and they have outrun the opposition in only 7 out of 35 games in la liga.
On the other hand, Atletico have outrun the opposition in every game in la liga and Champions league bar one, where they got a player sent off and covered one km less.
