Channel 9 really still could televise the Down Under Classic live considering the cricket will be over before then.

I am starting a twitter campaign to get this to happen as I am fighting for my fellow cycling fans rights! ;)

Maybe without Henderson he will not be though. I still think he will podium.
Besides Renshaw has a good team as well ( Matthews who beat Sutton at the Cronulla Crit, whilst leading out for Brown with 400 metres to go )

Von Hoff and AG also have proven that they could go well on this scene.

Lotto brings one of the strongest teams and Henderson, Hansen, Reynes and Sieberg know each other from High Road days and have won many races as support of Greipel. Together with Roelandts that offers a very strong package.

I know it is a strong team and i expect them to go well this year but i don't think they will at the Crit. Being the first race of the season they might not have practiced together as much either.
Hansen has been in Australia and Roelandts while good i do not think has led Greipel out much.

I still think Greipel can win a stage here though.

My pick is Greipel. He is the fastest of the sprinters other than Cav (who isnt here). Yeah he isn't the best at positioning but finally has a good leadout. For second ill say Renshaw.

Is there going to be any way to watch this live? or just a 2 minute youtube video a day later...

Never question the prestige, importance and relevance of the Australian cycling season.

It's much easier to watch the first day for novelty value, remember it's crap and then let the local upside downers work themselves in to a lather over it.

Nice work peanut .... can we get tickets to your show ??

Cyclings cycling wherever and whenever .... if you dont like it, dont watch and dont comment ....

The post title didnt read " who thinks australian cyclings **** " , answer the question or move on ....

Rant over, beautiful day here in South Oz so perfect conditions for sprinting therefore Renshaw for the win.......

Continue please

One thing I love about the Tour Down Under is that I don't have to wake up in the wee hours of the morning to watch it.

Is that link that's going around going to work for everybody? Because I really don't want to rely on Twitter updates and the live ticker on here for it.

Another providence fail. I think you'll find it's a general discussion thread - I see no question in the title.

Anyhow, given it's a car-park race positioning is more important than speed, so Renshaw>Griepel more often than not.

It says it right here on the official tour down under website that there is a live stream been carried for the first team ever on the channel 9 website and they even give you a link to it:

I know but that's not the point. They could of put it on tv but they chose not to.

ABC Grandstand coverage should be starting soon.

EDIT: I am happy now, Grandstand coverage has started.

I notice that 9 is showing replay tonight at 10:30pm here in Sydney.

I agree that they could easily be showing it live as the cricket finished hours ago. Typical of them though. I will be writing to them tomorrow morning. All you other Aussie cycling fans should do the same.

ACF, I have my headphones in listening to ABC 702 but there is no sport on. Are they covering the race??

You have to have ABC Grandstand (digital radio). I will also be writing to Channel 9 tommorow. I read over 20 tweets sent to them asking if they could put the Classic on at 7pm but they completely ignored all of them.

GreenEdge reports that Durbridge crashed on his way to the race and suffered a minor concussion. He will not start.

Susan

Man... could GreenEdge be cursed?

First Bobridge now Durbridge!

Who is next?? Maybe a poll is in order.

He is probably pretty okay, still a good chance he will start in the TDU.

For all the criticism I read regarding this much loved Channel 9, this is actually the first time ever I've seen the race live here in Europe.
