I have to do the most BS work team meeting at the moment and probably can't watch for next 30 mins, it seems all the big favourite and whole trek team crashed HARD, someone can explain???

Looked like some wind or just someone not concentrating pushed guys at the front into each other while already at very high speed off descent.

Someone from Trek I think bumped into van Aert and both went down when maybe ~4th wheel or so from the front. So it took out about 12 guys.

There was an uneven surface transition from the road to what looked like a path on the right side, and someone lost their wheel in the transition (much like Wout's crash last weekend), at speed, and they all just went down. Wout looks to have gone over the bars, and landed on his right shoulder and back. He has really bad injuries, and probably a broke collar bone. Pederson went down as well, as well as Girmay.

It's very windy, main group of about 30 was going full speed when a wind gust must've hit them because multiple riders were veering at once leading to a hard crash of about 10 guys, mainly Wout, Girmay and the mentioned Trek names.

I'm hoping it's not a broken collarbone for Wout. It looked like he was moving his right arm normally which is usually not possible with a collarbone break. No doubt he is torn up, but hoping for the best for him. Sometimes it's luck is a b!tch. Ugghhhh...

Eurosport drive me nuts at times, i.e. just running with the "gust of wind" narrative based on nothing.

It was a horrible crash in any case & probably the worst one I can remember Van Aert being involved in.
It's around here:

You see there is a gutter between the road and the bicycle path. The group took the whole width of the road and those that ride in that gutter can easily lose balance (but from the replay: not sure if this cause the crash, could as well have been riders contact without the surface playing a role).
