Kwiatkowski is a great bike racer. He'll find his way onto a normal team soon.

Yeah, because his new team handicapped him so badly. Two biggest races of the season or him (so far), and you have suicide attack on fastest Poggio ever ridden (although he had decent chance in the sprint), and now amazing 30km ride with another world champion......

I said nothing about his new team handicapping him. I said he's a great bike racer. :)

EQS - So many guys up front - none in the top ten.
They should seriously consider working at Panda Express.

This time I think they played it fine. Sending Stybar and Terpstra to do the work and letting two best sprinters hang back. They didn't expect that Sagan and Kwiatkowski will be able to hold them back at safe distance so they panicked and puT Boonen (who looked fairly strong) up front. I think that was a mistake, but other than that there is not much else they could have done.

Well, had kwia attacked 5kms to the finish, last year would be repeated probably, a that's the most frightening fact for him today

If either Terpstra or Trentin could hang on to Sagan and Kwiat it would've been the perfect race from them.

The other riders in the chasing group are to blame aswell. If each of them would've taken 2/3 turns it would be an entirely different story.

not to take anything away from anyone, but etixx dropped the ball everytime it counted. Should have closed sagan-kwiat quickly, but apparently they were too scared of cancellara so decided to race negatively. Quite an achievement this race. Not that I complain, it's just mind boggling how they keep doing this. Too many chiefs problem does not cover it entirely.

Great race... a real champions performance from Kwiat and Sagan. I was rooting for Kwiat after his Poggio attack came to nowt.

Yep, Stannard would have won the sprint. :D

On that we agree :D I just don;t understand the negative connotation about the team that so far plays this season out perfectly when it comes to tactics. Hard to find a single mistake so far in classics, and in stage races. They just keep winning thanks to tactics, not thanks to being the strongest. Can't imagine a better team at the moment for a guy like Kwiatkowski- a natural born winner (mentally and tactically) who has physical limitations in majority of scenarios (not best sprinter or climber)

Love the sky classics unit. They really do make races more entertaining. It's the sky train up mountains that people have complaints with, but yeah, I see no reason to hate on sky in classics

No doubt Tommeke will win some crappy stage at the Ster Elektrotoer or Münsterland Giro and proclaim his season saved.

Too me, Terpstra seemed by far the strongest Quick Step rider again. But Lefevere just doesn't want to see it.
Boonen is passe.
I say Terpstra and Stybar as main leaders next week

I'm not a cancellara fan, I actually never liked him, but boonen should be the one to retire.

Terpstra was definitely the strongest. What a waste of energy having him pull the group for so long...

Didn't watch the race but am shocked that Kwiat won nonetheless. He seemed to be headed the goat way with weight loss n' stuff and then bangz!

He'll win the Ronde and do the Ardennes treble!

I guess my point was that you have four guys up front and because you don't win you freewheel it across the line?

Terpstra feels like an outsider looking in. Not a favorite son for sure.

That would make sense if they had caught the leaders and Boonen/Trentin had lost the sprint. But surely if the weaker Boonen had been put to work instead of the stronger Terpstra then it would just have meant even less chance of catching the leaders? Terpstra had his change when Sagan and Kwiatkowski attacked and he couldn't follow. Once the 30 second gap developed their best option was to hope it came back together for a sprint, even if it was a long shot. The problem was the passengers like Benoot and Vanmarcke who just sit there passively and don't want to race.

Is there any chance that Sagan will ever realize that he cannot be dragging anyone else to the finish line on his wheel?

Why is it so hard for him to understand that when he hits the 1km mark that he needs to be already riding alone?

Either sit in the small group and wait for the sprint (which he may not win anyway) or just make sure you are going solo the last 2-3km.

Yep. FW is reserved for Poels who seems to be flying as well.

"Along with potentially the Vuelta, Tirreno and Ruta del Sol, Poels and Sergio Henao are likely to co-lead at Fleche Wallonne, another race Poels wants to try and win."

"La Fleche Wallonne suits me really well with the Mur de Huy finish. I really like explosive climbs like Mur de Huy. Last year, my position in the peloton was a lot better. When I am in the front in the finals, I can do a good job, so this year I will really go full for it and see what happens."

Kwiatkowski could have won Fleche as well, but I think he is getting replaced with Poels since he doesn't get a chance to lead a GT this year.

Not that I wouldn't like to see Poels take the win but the chances should be way higher with Kwiatkowski. Aren't those 3 days at the end of April the main reason they made an offer to the Pole in the first place?

I would normally say yes.

But for some reason, Kwiatkowski is skipping Fleche Wallone although he has been 5th and 3rd there. Maybe it's full focus on Liege?
