That's not the answer.
Nobody expected him to fight for a podium here but he's been at least half decent for all of 2023 and now he suddenly rides like a late Van Garderen.
I dunno, their best hopes were always stages 10+12. But yeah Powless seems to be wasting his good form on loosing the polka dot to Felix Gal or the winner of the Cima Coppi on stage 17.

I don't think Powless is climbing well enough to win a mountain stage. And I have some doubts he can even win the polka dots with this shape.
Too many good climbers are already out of the GC and will be in the breaks: Gall, Ciccone, Johnanessen, Skjelmose, Woods, even someone like Landa and Pinot. Won't be easy.
Bettiol and Cort have a shot in the next few stages. Even Shaw could surprise.

Having Woods in that break was a real headache for the guys.
The final climb really didn’t suit Powless, but I also think he ended up burning too many matches on trying to get a head start.

It would be nice to see him bag a Tour stage, he’s not had much luck in the race over the years. Always enjoyed watching Chaves race, he gives it his all and came back from injuries as a U23 that could of ended his career. Also comes across as a wonderful person.

The team has been so underwhelming this Tour. None of the riders had to do any work since stage 1, yet they even struggle to make it to breakaways and even if they manage to get there, they are often one of the first to get dropped.
