I guess at least Nerukar could do well but otherwise the roster looks like they're just trying to be at the start line without comitting too much.

Have to agree. The TDU is a winnable race if a rider is in form. I also find it strange that there is a dearth of second row sprinters - Where is Kooij, Magnier or Lamperti or riders of that ilk.

With the exception of Chaves, it seems very young.
I think the rest of riders are all 23 and under.

That was a great piece of research!
So now I don't feel so bad for thinking how weak the start list looked.

so 2025 will be their year...

I dont know TDU always feels too early for teams to care about,unless theyve got aussie riders looking for champs form, or aussie sponsors to please, despite the expense alot seem to treat it like a warm weather training camp in somewhere thats not Calpe.

A good start for riders, is always a good start. Look at Pithie last year and his spring after that. Narvaez and Williams. Onley. Del Toro. All had pretty good seasons.

Still going to the middle east just a few weeks later should give a similar start to the season without having to endure the long travel or jet lag. Or even staying at Mallorca is not really a bad option.

Both Pithie and Narvaez did their nationals after as well.

They still have a few weeks before opening weekend.

Starting a couple of weeks earlier and having a couple of weeks to get back again and do some training in between, doesnt seem to bad to me. You have more time actually. Rather than going middle east and then having less than week before classics is underway.

Plus the racing and travel to Australia is more fun I think, rather than the long roads and deserts in the middle east.

Mallorca depends on the weather. Slippery roads. Very twisty as well.

All in all, no matter what race you start with... a good start is a good start as I said. Wasnt tryna say any race is better than the other.
