I am quite surprised by the vaccine rates of Japan (11%). the more developed countries are ~ 40%. Considering the Olympics is coming, i suspect that there will be a fifth wave during the Olympics. Greed and Sloth right there.

Simply, Japan would not give emergency exemptions for vaccines - They foolishly decided to run their own clinical trials which resulted in them losing around 3 months - They are to blame.

The Formula 1 Grand Prix for Melbourne in November has been cancelled. I doubt the Tour Down Under will happen in January 2022.

Certainly, but his issue could be something completely unrelated, and unless there is proof of the vaccine being the culpret, articles like this only fuel the ignorance that the vaccine is too dangerous to take.

That's reasonable, but the hysteria surrounding the vaccine (particularly in the US), isn't objective in any way, and articles like this are used to justify people not getting vaccinated, which is dangerous and stupid.

Well, there's the Corona thread in the café for this, but it still feels a bit weird, there are so many people in the world who want to get vaccinated and can't... when a country has more than its people want just give it to whoever in the world wants it.

I hope there's no more positives beyond today's news, but I'm not optimistic with the 10s of thousands of people descending on Tokyo and surrounds.

Sporting events have been held for the last 12 months following COVID protocols - These events would not happen if there are too many issues - Martinez is a false positive - He got infected after the Giro but you can still test positive for three months - In many cases a Martinez case has been given the all clear.

Not strictly cycling but still related as an Olympics event there have been at least 3 tennis players ruled out of Tokyo after testing positive for covid. Most were prior to travelling to the games.
