I don't mind paying extra for new tech if it improves shifting performance, which electronic does, reduce maintenance time and costs, check and check. Bring on the new!

Shall we go back and read most of your posts in the Gear forum and see if this is for real or just a snide uber mech guy comment ??/

flip flop is more than a track hub here....

Wired phone to pole - that's so awesome where can I get it :D:D

...just imagine - Contador is flying up a climb in the Tour on wireless and some punk on the side of the rode with a wireless remote hacked to his frequency changes it from 39/25 to 53/11 :D:D

Ha, ha!

I see this posted: http://velonews.competitor.com/2013...wn-reveals-remote-control-capabilities_280111

And there's this, the Taylor Phinney cologne: http://velonews.competitor.com/2013/04/news/taylor-phinney-to-launch-italian-fashion-line_280122
Said to enhance the overall shifting experience, LOL.

There's one more on their site, if you can find it....

April 1st. Good one; nearly had me!

(But, seriously, thinking of going DI2--the auto trimming is a super feature, and absence of mechanical wiring)

Look at EPS then..better intercompatibility, like use a Chorus or Athena crank, Chorus cogset, chain..type stuff. Everything shimano and Di2 is gonna be 11s, introduced probably at SeaOtter..making older DA Di2 an orphan.

What are the implications if I went with Ultegra DI2 now and it was orphaned. No service or updates?? How big a risk? (Like MS to stop supporting XP in 2014 etc.?). Is this a dumb move.

On the theme of hand injuries etc., whatever, you'll enjoy this, Velonews' April 1st, 2010, Bertie joke :D:

Their Andy Schleck joke yesterday was good. Nearly got me till their line about Andy strengthening his sacrum by riding the Roubaix cobbles....Ha, ha!

Depends on Ultegra Di2 version. Later ones will be programmable to 11s.

I think it's a software issue, not a hardware issue. Eventually it will have that capability on the website..

Do we actually know what caused the mechanical? Facts rather than speculation? When Cadel Evans had his mechanical at the 2011 TdF there were all sorts of "explanations" such as a rear wheel problem or cracked chain

Wiggins has recently switched back to mechanical.

I rode my Mektronic in the rain countless times and not one glitch, much to the surprise of those riding with me, funnier still was seeing a stranded rider with a broken derailure cable, it was too much for him to ride on the smaller chainring. Some people have it some people don't, you just have to sit with those that don't

Mektronic was the biggest piece of **** ever in the history of cycling components. That's coming from someone who bought Frank Day's Powercranks. Total garbage product that should never have been sold.

Ultegra Di2 on the other hand is superb and one of the best purchases I have made.

Eps

I just completed second ride on my Ridley Noah Pro with Super Record EPS. It is phenomenal. Awesome. Very light action on the levers, just light tap and it shifts. Linger a split second and chain moves two cogs. I have been riding Campy for many years so I like the thumb lever and the new shape is perfect. I did ride DI2 over winter and it is not up to EPS. Also the levers are placed badly on DI2 when one is wearing heavier full fingered gloves. So two thumbs up for me.
The Noah is fantastic as well. I am happy boy. :D

I prove things to myself before taking the word of people who only follow a random tid bit or walk around taping a ball thinking its a sport.

Yeah I proved it to myself with my hard-earned cash. Hard-earned cash wasted on Mektronic.

Anyway, it's been consigned to the dustbin of history, thank heavens. So no one is in any danger of wasting their money based on your mind-boggling recommendation.

Question:

Getting a little bit of chain rain [correction: "chain rub", oops!] on front derailleur in 50/20 or thereabouts (ie. mid cassette) when standing on pedals with DI2 Ultegra compact 50/34, 11-28, on Giant Defy Advanced 0. It's a pretty stiff bike and new. Puzzled.

Is that the frame bending?? (it's when I'm standing, not sitting) or is it misadjustment of DI2?

Advice?

Need to adjust the FD..go to biggest cog in back and small ring. Adjust limit screw so chain is very close to inner cage. Chain should be centered in cage regardless of CR or cog in back if the FD is operating correctly.

Evans was screwed out of second place at the Giro by DI2. Nibali played it safe by using tried and true cables.

Report said he had a 'mechanical', what was it? Can't find the particulars anywhere.

Nibili using an 80th anniversary group-just got mine the other day.
