Miscalculated Howson's score when assembling my extremely hastily assembled team.
La Florecita seems to have two of Edmondon

Edmondson twice

Only game not based on points and immediately I screw up:confused: (although I tried to send in a youth team with Cattaneo in just like last year but unfortunately MC noticed :D)

Poljanski my only unique pick :) I am hoping for another Majka

Flo has asked to add SÜTTERLIN Jasha in place of one of the Edmondsons (but not specified which one): given that the rider is in her main game and youth game squads I don't think there can be an accusation of lifting the recommendation from the published teams, so I'll allow that.

I'll also allow Mutschi's late addition of Michael Vink to bring his roster up to 18. It is a unique pick, so not inspired by seeing the teams published, and although he won the New Zealand Cycle Classic which finished after the deadline, those points are unlikely to be decisive over three years.

Gee, what a surprise. Just call me mr. popular.

I was glad to see that Yves Lampaert and Sepulveda were my most unique picks, as (not coincidentally) they were my last 2 additions to the team. Also not surprised that of the 2 other people who picked Lampaert, one is my CQ collaborator/nemesis mc_mountain, ha.

edit: actually, I see that those two, along with Olivier, are my only riders not in the top 18 'collective wisdom' team. Wow!

I'm pretty okay with that; having a popular team is usually a good thing in CQ games, and I would imagine that a 3-year game only reinforces this principle, as less is left to chance than someone having an off year or something. Then again, not all hot prospects work out, so it works differently than, say, picking Boonen for one year at 139 points, because you know he's going to have a much better year than that since he's Tom freakin' Boonen. I have to admit the jury is out for me as to what is the best strategy for this game, so I'm eager to keep track.

Well I picked up on Lampaert from the Youth CQ game last year, when someone, I guess The Fool on the Hill again, had him. Looks like a decent ITT, with strength and a decent sprint for one day races/short stage races. Could be a 150-250 point a year rider, but could also elevate to something a bit more.

In a game with no team budget restriction I am a bit nervous to have so few of the collective wisdom team. Also a bit surprised that Geoghegan Hart is unique, but even more reason to cheer him on.

As one of the guys also always in the top of the popularity chart, I'm kind of surpriced not one single team gambled and picked Nino Schurter, that was one of my last cuts. With him likely riding Tour De Suisse and Romandie this season for Orica and possibly getting a taste for the Road if its succesfull, as it very well could be, he could possibly become one of the best picks in the game with his age being in his prime.

Kind of surpriced and a bit relieved also Gaimon that already had scored well only got picked so little.

So far bad start for me otherwice with my least popular pick Van Der Poel, stating a few days after the deadline that he would not focus much on the road afterall the next couple of years, so he will likely be a fairly bad pick despite his huge talent.

It's good to be on the bandwagon nice and early though.

The only reason I know Zurlo is because of your posts on this forum, so if he does well you get all the credit. And if he's a flop, it's also your fault. ;)

Ah okay, now I feel pressure :p!

Nice pick in Keegan Swirbul by the way have him on the radar aswell, but Im afraid he is just 1 or mb 2 years to young for this game. Hopefully I am wrong though, would love to see him fly down some mountains in Europe the earlier the better :)!

One month into a three year game, the first monthly leader list is probably about as relevant to final placings as a yellow jersey in Harrogate, but at least it has given me a chance to test the spreadsheet.

So surprised to be the only one to have chosen Ildar ARSLANOV and Josip RUMAC, very young indeed (both 19), but so dominant in their age group.

Well, Lampaert showing he's got the goods in KBK... I expect solid placement as well as improvement in sprint positioning etc. Kudus looking solid as well - gotta admit I did not expect him to develop so quickly, but happy to see it.

When's the next update? Is it monthly? I wonder if, Armchair, you'd be interested in doing it every 2 weeks or something? Or maybe the first year, monthly, then the second year twice monthly, then the third year weekly? I dunno, it's nice to follow along. No stress though.

high five on Lampaert (Kudus too) also pleased that Ruben Fernandez seems to be showing well. I dont have Hepburn though, but maybe he will continue to fail to quite get going.

I think the updates will be coming monthly - anticipation is cool too.

woohoo! Early lead. Sorry, I forgot it was monthly - too many games to follow along. Well, I'll take this lead with a grain of salt, since it's a 3-year competition. But since two of my top guys are my most unique picks (Lampaert & Sepulveda), I'm guessing that I'll keep a good place for awhile, as most other top picks scoring will also increase my score.

Thanks for the update AC!

First win for one of my riders: Alexis Gougeard, 80 Points. Nice feeling if one of the young talents comes through.....a few minor points for Hepburn (5) and Vorganov (3). Big hopes for the classics were lots of my guys made the team for the WT races. And Jacub Novak (sole pick, I think) will start Normandie. Something to look forward too after all my big guys are out of M-SR (Phinney, Gerrans, Boonen)
