Hugo Koblet said:I might be wrong, but didn't Ulissi have a gap in GP Industria? In that case, it wouldn't really be correct to say that he beat Oss, Rebellin etc. in an uphill sprint.
I might be wrong though.
The leaders of Italy will be Nibali, Ulissi and Moser. Cunego, Gasparotto, Pozzato and Visconti wont be in Limburg. I think Diego and Moreno wont work for Paolini, Capecchi or Trentingreenedge said:He has also won a GC stage. Maybe he will not get a co-leaders role now, but in the future he definitely should.
profff said:yesterday, betancur won the queen stage of the monviso venezia, formerly the giro della padania beating in an uphill sprint pelizzotti rebellin nibali sella and atapuma among the others.
betancur was very strong at the end and he was able to come back on the leaders in the last 3 km ascent, while on the demanding colla del prel, which is very hard atapuma performed very well.
betancur knows how to win and he will be a factor in valkenburg. i do not know if going to the ag2r next year is the right choice, i would have preferred seeing him in the liquigas group.
atapuma proved to beon of the strongest climber. ha was able to stand pelizzotti and nibali rhythm on the colla del prel and he got clear in the last climb and he was caught with 350 mt to go. he has made considerable progress this year with corti and next year if he will stay with coldeportes and they are invited to gt, he will do great things in real mountain stages with long and steep climbs ( giro style not vuelta style..)
SafeBet said:Yet he's still not consistent enough I think.
I watched both of the stages and while I concur Atapuma was great yesterday, he lost more than a minute the day before on Passo della Bocchetta. Don't know if he had any health issue or something, but I'm not sure he's ready for GC in a Giro. More of a stage hunter until he proves me wrong.
Betancur is an amazing talent. Really looking forward to see him in the Worlds.
will10 said:Yeah I can see Atapuma having a Perez Cuapio or Cardenas type role in GTs. Capable of winning stages from the front against the big guns but nowhere on GC.
cineteq said:Henao is thinking big. He loves the Giro and wants a podium place.
"Me gustaría volver mucho al Giro, aunque con ambiciones más grandes que las de este año en el que me sacrifiqué por Rigoberto. Quiero luchar por un podio. Sería mi gran objetivo y mi gran sueño."

Jason_Mercier said:Also i want the TT's who didnt participate in this 2012. Guys like Van Garderen, Talansky or Brajkovic. Of course i want a route with two ITTS. Would be an interesting battle between climbers and time triallists.
I think Quintana will be at the Tour with Valverde next year, providing it is reasonably mountainous. That's what Unzue indicated during the Vuelta. Capecchi, Szmyd and Visconti will head their Giro line-up I would guess.Jason_Mercier said:I think is possible. We would need to see the riders who would participate. Next year probably Hesjedal will want win one more time, the Ag2r squad with Pozzovivo and Betancur, Movistar with Quintana and maybe Evans, Nibali or Fuglsang.

Jason_Mercier said:Yes, i had forgot the two ex Liquigas. Probably Movistar signed them for the Italian calendar. The TDF is too hard for Quintana yet IMO. He suffered with the rhytm of the first week of the Vuelta, (said by him) also fell many times. I want to know what think Ryo about this.
Ryo Hazuki said:he suffered in the vuelta because of the incredible heat in the first week. he had only 1 racingday prior to the vuelta and he had been trianing in cold boyaca for months. next year he should come back for route du sud and then tour. tour is usually hot too. still he improved so much his skills in flat this year that next year I don't see too many problems. his real problem with first week suffering is that he has problems placing himself well in a peloton, he needs helpers for that. and he didn't crash anytime in this vuelta except in last few days
noddy69 said:Quintana by a country mile as a pure climber. Able to stay with the best in the last week of the vuelta when noone else could, and kept for the last week by movistar. for gc its henao
uphillstruggle said:A bit early to compare really. They have both only done 1 GT and Henao had a semi free role where Quintana was sacrificed for valverde.
