Teams & Riders Everybody needs a little bit of Roglstomp in their lives

TGH looked very strong. He would follow Roglič on the last climb but stayed behind Remco. When he saw Remco can't catch Rog, he overtook him quickly and cought Rog fast. Then he didn't want to pull with Rog on the decent.
I honestly don't know about that. Yes TGH looked very strong (so did thomas), but i don't think he could have paced the climb like Roglic did. He got back because Roglic went a bit too deep and he was happy to have been in the wheel from that point on. TGH also wasn't in the wheel of Remco, they were behind and when they reached remco they flew by him.

Remco once again proved that once gradiens go well over 10%, he can't respond to best climbers in the world. Now presure is on him to gain as much advantage as possible in tomorrow ITT. Third week is more suited for Rogla power ;)

At least we know he has Legs and he's always has the fight. Tomorrow is Big! How any minutes does he start before the Belgian whiner?
The real question is: how many minutes does he finish after that Belgian…
No seriously (and respectfully), Roglic looked the business and I’m happy to see him in solid form after all of the misfortune in big GT’s the last couple of years.

With regards to steep gradients, I saw Remco destroy whole pelotons on la redoute and in the Vuelta last year in the first week. I hope for the race that Remco takes plenty of time tomorrow, and roglic retains this shape to hurt Remco in the 3rd week, and I really wouldn’t mind roglic winning the giro and have one last good try in the tour in 2024, maybe in another team.

Analyzing the picture, I see nervousness, fear, desperation, and shortness of breath in Remco‘s face. Even Leknessund looks worried for Remco.

In Primoz face, I see pure willpower. I could imagine this climb was the turning point of the Giro…
"shortness of breath" is definitely a symptom doctors look out for.

Before starting differential diagnoses doctors must first make sure that the patient isn't pedaling 7.50 W/kg or more on a bicycle.

Primoz Roglic's attack on Cappuccini was quite a masterpiece, something to be taught in cycling lessons. He attacked but didn't went all-in, giving Leknessund and Remco the impression that they can catch him. That's how he cooked them. Then he opened the gas again and they were into red, dropped back. Also the way he breathed at the top, Rogla could have gone faster but he wanted to have some company to the finish. Also, Rogla loves these type of climbs. #Giro

He looked really strong not only on the climb but also over the top and on the descent. Good signs.

Hope the TT is better than last week.
For some reason, I'm not counting on it. Maybe slightly better.
I really feel his preparation was mostly focused on climbing: being in beast-mode by week 3.

Like on Les Praeres.

I guess he somehow judged this "monster" climb of under 4km of lenght only to loose almost a minute when true climbing began few days later ;)

Nice for you to find this "high altitude" climbing paradise to prove your point.

He still is not on par with best of them in my books and I predict last week will prove it.

High altitude? Did they race on high altitude yesterday? Quite comparable, no? 700-800m. Les Praeres was 3.8k @13%.

The point was he isn't in the group of best climbers. Once gradiens get step and attacks start to occur he will get vunerable. I am not sure Rogla is on same level as top climbers but I think he is more capable than Remco in that regard.

You can throw in Les Praeres, Erlaitz, Picón Blanco, La Molina,... but those aren't exactly climbers climbs.

My prediction is he will need every bit of time from today's ITT to defend maglia rosa in third week.

Let's see what happens in the second half of the race. IMO it's likely that Remco still isn't100% due to his crash. Then his TT today could be kinda underwhelming (but OTOH he should be better in decisive stages), we will see.

So les Praeres is not proof that he can do steep gradients, but yesterday was proof that he can't.

Ok. See you later.
