Teams & Riders Everybody needs a little bit of Roglstomp in their lives

It's going to be difficult for everyone. For Jonas as well, now that Pog is not the only one he needs to watch/drop. Imagine the scenario where Vinge attacks and drops either Pog or Rog (but only one of them). What does he do then? Continue pushing and risk a counter from the one that stayed. Of course there's a chance he's strong enough to drop everyone but if he isn't it's going to get very tactical in 2024 IMO.
If that happens pog or rog will push with Vingegaard to make time(try to eliminate) in the other opponent.

At least it would be the most logical thing to do, and then the other two in the front will fight for the victory. I don't think the main goal is just assure that vingegaard don't win the Tour.

That's far from being the most logical thing to do. Most logical if you're fighting for second maybe. Or if you're riding together with a rider who is not a dominant winner of the last two TdFs.

Logical would be to make Vingegaard work as hard as possible. He's the defending champion and it's in his best interest to decimate the attackers while it's probably in Pog's and definitely in Rog's best interest to have some chaos. Because you know:

If it is a tactical race, but all contenders go with the same form they had in the last 2 years, Vingegard will win. He showed in every grand tour he did in the last 2 years, that when he puts his foot down on a climb in 2nd/3rd week, nobody can compete, no matter how tactical is the race or who are his rivals . He is the best.

What will decide the race is whether Roglic and Pogacar have improved their form compared to the last 2 years, or if Vingegard is not able to hit the same level. All of which is possible... Maybe Roglic can find again his 2021 level.

I hope we have a great race and Vingegard is seriously put to the test. I don't want to see jumbo lent-a-bike win another tour de France. Personally I hope for Landa or Simon Yates ;)

I think vingegaard wouldn't be so naive on that situation. If the other one with him doesn't help pushing, he will stop pushing. I think he learned after what happened on cauterets this year.

So in regards to Rogla there is one goal only and for Bora it's all in, 2024 season. That is sole leadership at the Tour and only the best of the best making it in support role. Other races are not 100% confirmed yet. After altitude training in February there could be PN or TA. Just as after altitude training, as a preparation for the Tour, there will likely be a prep race, that could be Dauphiné or not. Vuelta got a firm nod for now. Worlds considered as a desire and suitable, Olympics, time trial, to be determined, based on TT form in the season. New shoes and pedals needed some getting used to but it's fine now. Rogla already pushing the team to improve, by caring and voicing opinion, whenever appropriate. Not much to say about Red Bull for now, although, he could make good use of the wings in his previous career.

He would keep pushing because he's putting time on the field and then only has to worry about one rider after the day.

What one week stage races are left that Roglic hasn't won? He has most of them by now, so to focus on the remainder would certainly be a goal.

I wouldn't bet with you on this

I'm actually a Pog supporter but:
1) One needs an absolutely superb level to win the Tour nowadays and nobody in the last couple of decades has shown this kind of Tour form after riding the Giro for the GC win.
2) Pogacar has never ridden two GTs in a row and his decisions in the previous seasons signaled that he was too gassed to try Tour-Vuelta double.

As they also say, you have to be willing to lose everything, if you want to win against strength.

In terms of chaos, this will be in the form of breaks. Visma must chase everything down and I mean everything. Bora/QS/UAE would be seriously tard'd if they chase anything down that doesn't involve the leaders of those teams. And even so, Visma has to do it. Be willing to lose everything to that one guy Visma refuses to chase down.

It is race days, and you are right. But it isn't decided how difficult those race days are yet. Most giro's require going deep into the tank to win it. So we shall see who is able to push Pogi.

There are some other goals left, noted in the articles i posted above. Tour, ToS and the same as Pogi this year, Rogla is rather interested in Giro-Tour double attempt and rainbow jersey ...

But all in all and in the 2024 season it's the Tour. First thing is to get to the start and the second one to finish it in Nice. In regards to Jonas, the plan is rather simple, to finish ahead. To have the legs for that. It's not some rocket science.

We'll see.

Sure, race intensity matters. I mean one Tour of Flandres can be way more difficult for the body than a 5-day stage race. Still, a 3-week race takes a lot out of the body even if crucial climbing sections are tackled at 6.2 w/kg instead of 6.5 w/kg. It's also a mental challenge for a GC guy - one needs to be very focused every day for 21 days.

Assuming Pogi can win the Giro, this might be an advantage mentally for him in the tour. If he can't win, so be it. The season is looking pretty good.

I believe pog can enter in the Tour in good shape after the Giro, but the last week of the Tour super backloaded with plateau de beille stage, col de la bonette stage, col de la couillole and the last TT.....maybe will be to much for him with the Giro in his legs + visma going full gas everyday.

I think Roglic is too old for all of those things. I am guessing he understands this and realizes this year is probably his last realisitic shot at the tour.

He was asked something like that in the article i posted above. He says he still feels just fine and so for now Rogla focuses more on the aspect of racing, on where it is important that nobody is in front of you. When it comes to numbers, he pays much less attention to the numbers in his ID, compared to numbers displayed on the cycling computer.

P.S. Yeah, among other things, basically it was *** like that, on why Rogla switched from Visma to Bora. In the article i posted above Rogla acknowledged, that he wouldn't be in such position, at Visma, as he is now at Bora. Going after the Tour 2024 title. He knows that Visma is currently arguably the best team in the peloton and that it takes time to get to there. Still, Bora is not a total outsider. So lets indeed see if Bora with Rogla or Visma with Jonas, on who has the better numbers.

Yes. And there will be two, maybe three teams/contenders who might follow this philosophy. Damn, I almost wish I were 6 months older and TDF came sooner😁

He's not too old but he's been dedicated to 3 week races and the training that gets you there. Very difficult to also include a race like Flanders that takes it's own focus and recovery. He's more or less a prisoner of those priorities and recovery from injury.
His shoulder and Pog's wrist are healed and they can dedicate to the races they want to win. Pogacar doing the Vuelta (I meant Giro) will require some balance if he wants to be Tour ready. Everyone else there will be.
