Teams & Riders Everybody needs a little bit of Roglstomp in their lives

What's clearly visible is that the harder the stage and more fatigue in the legs, the worse he was doing. Yesterday was 100km Unipuerto on an easy climb, and he had something at the end. Today he looks like the 6th best climber one moment then he just runs completely empty 20km later.

Fatigue resistance isn't typically Roglas best trait, but this isn't quite normal.
It's also the stages where you descend the most and feel the cold. I think it's too easy to overreact to this stage.

What is he riding next?

Itzulia, apparently.

Well, I do look for excuses, it is evident that he is either sick or has had symptoms of hypothermia for days (perhaps very little fat for this Paris Nice), it is not normal how bad he looked today

Maybe there's been too much focus on what Rog could bring to Bora & perhaps not enough on what Rog needs from Bora. That's an oversimplification of course but I think anyone who has followed this rider closely for years knows there's a list of "do & do not" with regards to his racing style & what he likes versus doesn't like.

Fighting for position, bad weather etc. is something he never liked. This is not an excuse, more like a fait accompli whereby when he's not in the right conditions, his poor form is going to get brutally exposed - perhaps more so than usual. I would have thought that 8 days ago Bora would look at the race profile (including its TTT), the classics type parcours, the horrible weather predictions & then ask some important questions. There's also probably a discussion to be had about his training data.

I mention all this because Patxi Vila looked disappointed in his post race interview, i.e. he said they'd hoped for more (including fighting for the overall win in Paris-Nice).

there should be no overreaction to this. yeah it was disappointing, but it's not exactly breaking news for a rider whose goal is the tour de france to not be at his best in march. remember vingegaard at this race last year? he got absolutely demolished by pogacar. he was beaten on a mountain stage by kevin vauquelin. i understand that is much different than this, but it didn't mean anything in the long run.
On the bright side, Primoz didn't crash a single time this week!

As long as he isn't ill and recovers well from this, he should be the favourite for the opening ITT in Itzulia. I have no doubt that he has the watts, certainly for a fresh effort.

Jvlab is one of those teams that gets the best out of riders, one way or another.

Why is it a surprise that leaving the team has the reverse effect? Maybe the fanboys don't want to admit that Roglic would have never been Roglic without the secret aioli.

idk, this isn't F1. and he still has the same coach. i dont think he would've left the team if he didn't think he could replicate his form on a different team. i think he clearly came here below his usual March level to try to peak for the Tour. he knows he has to take a different approach to the season if he has any chance to hang with Pogacar and Vingegaard.

Let's hope so.

But if that were true, why would his coach say he has same watts as ever this time of year? That only puts unnecessary pressure on Roglic…
