I agree about him eating more, but I would still argue he got leaner with years in cycling.
Got no great pictures for illustration, but 2015-2016-... Roglič did not have "literal" holes below cheeks (even if he was never really "roundish").
He also did not struggle with the cold conditions as much in the early years.
I believe Roglič is going asymptotic to the limit this year with regards to such controllable aspects, and is if anything leaner then ever.
Not that I necessarily put too much value on one looking lean one way or another.

I know the fact of Roglic being a former ski jumper has been brought up countless times, but it's really only when I see pictures like this when I truly realize it. Seeing him and Prevc just being old buddies still feels so surreal.
I'm actually a bit surprised that they're such a good buddies, as Prevc was in the Slovenia A teams ever since Vancouver 2010 while Roglic was...well, mostly in the CC team so I'd guess they hardly trained together, hence building a friendship looks strange but what do I know..

I've heard that recently retired Peter Prevc is considering cycling career. Primoz told him there are similarities (i.e. high-adrenaline moments in the air).

I've met Prevc 2 weeks ago in a known pizza place in Slovenia so i'm sure he's working hard towards gaining more weight :)
As of Roglič, he said many times, he didn't like ski jumping, because you really need to eat a lot less, because you don't burn calories. He was hungry most of the time. In cycling, he can eat a lot more, because he burns calories.
 
The subject is interesting with the side-by-side pictures with a ski jumper in what we can assume almost prime condition weight wise, having finished the career a month ago... because I remember Roglič being much happier with transition to cycling because as he said at the time "you don't have to care about eating too much"... but now he looks leaner than a ski jumper... poor Roglič, didn't know what he signed up for after all I guess.
nobody ever did. Those that encourage you to start: "You'd only need to train a couple of hours....it's enjoyable". They never mention that it was everyday, forever and doubly when the weather is crappy.

I just realised how rare it is that Rogla really drops everyone on a mountain stage (before the sprint). The last time he did that was the 2022 Dauphiné stage to Vaujany when Vingegaard was still working for him. Before that it goes back to that Covadonga stage. Just goes to show how efficient he is.

The last time he did that was the 2022 Dauphiné stage to Vaujany when Vingegaard was still working for him. Before that it goes back to that Covadonga stage. Just goes to show how efficient he is.
I think that if you win by 6", it counts as dropping everyone.

When is it a sprint?
I‘d say if you attack in the last 300 meters, you‘re going flat out to the line (sprinting) and you‘re not gonna sit up if your attack is followed. Roglič gained those six seconds in that Catalunya stage where he passed Remco a whopping sixty meters from the line. If that‘s not a sprint distance, I don‘t know what is.

IIRC, that's what happened on Tre Cime. Attack, pause, and then a sprint. All in the last ~300 m.

Hard to gauge Thomas's pace, but it seems to me that he goes twice.
It's literally the clearest difference between the way Roglic likes to attack vs the Roglstomp at the finish.

Think he did a normal attack/respond to attack spike then paced himself for a minute to leave enough to Stomp at the finish. It's not efficient at all, but I'm pretty sure if he just goes full gas on an attack he blows himself up cause in a way he's too explosive for his own good.

You may find best training numbers ever in any random post from Contador between 2013 and 2017.

There's no real relevance here. It's simply Aldag confirming Rog has recovered from Itzulia (i.e. for example he doesn't have knee problems). He's doing recon rides & going to altitude in a few days. So it's totally... on.

I can't wait for the Dauphiné tbh. There's a 34km ITT which should be good testing ground for the Specialized gear.

I think the main factor skipping races are not current injuries but possibility that Jonas will not race Tour or will not be 100% and Pogi will have Giro (with or without crashes) in legs. Roglič and team want to be 120% prepared and not risking new injuries. This year is once in a life time (career) chance to win Tour.
Or maybe 2020 was.
