Teams & Riders Everybody needs a little bit of Roglstomp in their lives

Theoretically they went all in, but in reality the team sucks at the TdF.
I agree. But the "all-in" was a commitment statement, rather than a performance one. I even wrote two or three times in the live stage threads, that its rather impressive that Roglic is strong, considering how weak the rest turned up and they did all the prep together.
Lastly, you said they made Vlasov and Hindley go all in. Realistically Vlasov and Hindley are just marginal top 10 riders and it is not like they were sacrificing a lot.
Well, I think the average rider on a top 10 GC contract (and in Hindley's case even GT winner), would disagree that they don't sacrifice a lot. For sure, some people are fine with easing their individual pressure as leader after some years, and go to domestique duties (Kelderman, Majka, ...) but I am pretty sure Hindley and Vlasov are not in this stage yet.

It makes me sick to read these comments, how some of you are gloating and all those crash statistics and that this was his last chance. Who fu*king cares at this point! This guy left the best team in the world, worked hard for more than half a year for one goal and then it ends like this. It's heartbreaking and if I'm devastated, I have no idea how he must be feeling.

The most disgusting attitudes are from the people who're claiming he was at fault yesterday & deflecting blame from the organisers. I'm not referring to this forum, I'm referring to French Eurosport (Steve Chainel) & others who're almost pretending Rog was the only one to crash & others would have avoided going down with their 'better reflexes'.

Meanwhile Thierry Gouvenou from ASO is defending the course by claiming it would be absurd to spend 100,000 euros to remove traffic dividers just for 5 seconds of race time.

I mean, f*ck these guys & their race. It'll happen again, again & again & Rog won't be around for them to blame him.

As Niki Terpstra said on a podcast, you don't have to remove them. Just indicate them. And not just with a bit of paint, so that afterwards you can see what you've just crashed over.

Thijs Zonneveld (much maligned journalist among Bora fans :)) already warned about exactly this type of road furniture yesterday morning btw.

I know. Zonnerveld was completely spot on here. As was Merijn Zeeman afterwards who said it was entirely the organization's fault.

Gouvenou is basically defending himself & the ASO by hiding behind a binary "leave it unmarked or pay 100,000 euros to remove them" choice which conveniently omits the fact there's a middle ground (indicating them) which you referred to.

He should stick to Giro/Vuelta... there are some GC victories up for a grabs even at his age. Tour will be Pog/JV exclusive for the years to come anyway.
he tried that last year but Jonas and GC Kuss moved in on his turf 😢.

Honestly I admire these athletes that are willing to really go for the tour, despite not being the two monsters. And mentally he might need to convince himself that he can still win it if he trains hard enough; in order to train hard enough to maintain current level.

Get off your high horse and stop lying, Thierry. So tiresome when people can't own up to their mistakes. Just sends a signal to everyone that it isn't their fault and nothing will change.
Indeed!

Athletes has to be role models for kids and live up to standards; but how about we all set these standards for ourselves that we ask of others?

Btw I totally didn’t take the last cookie from the jar, I think it was Mike.

Roglic has one crash for every 18 racedays. According to Procyclingstats.
Which if correct, is madness. Yesterday was unlucky - but most of the others aren't. He just doesn't have the skills - staying on the bike is pretty important.

As for the ASO; their arrogance is breathtaking......poor organisation, and they need to hold their hands up. But they haven't.....

The French and their cartoons...I think all cycling fans that are not heartless have to feel at least a bit sad with what happened to Roglič.

Hope that Roglič can recover physically and mentally for the Vuelta, he should have a really good shot of getting a historical fourth win especially because Red Bull can line-up with Hindley, Vlasov, Martinez and Lipowitz to support him.

First things first, I really feel bad for Roglic, but unfortunately him crashing out was not a suprise. Don't get me wrong some of his crashes as people stated on here were due to bad luck, but many of his crashes are his fault and when it happens so often it gets to a point where it's not an accident anymore. Ultimately he was too far back, if he was at the front of the peloton like Pogacar and Vingegaard, he would've avoided it.
Like I said I feel real bad for him and I hope he wins the Vuelta.

So what was the big red and white marking we could see?
