Teams & Riders Everybody needs a little bit of Roglstomp in their lives

Also doubtful if Red Bull goes once more all in on Roglic or rather tries to sign a younger leader, they can work with for many years. Ayuso, for example (although personally I doubt he has, what it takes to win a Tour).
Reportedly they're after Evenepoel. Won't be for next year though.

I think like you see with UAE it doesn't suffice to just throw a lot of money at it though. You also need to have some sort of plan and a structure. This Tour their strategy was non-existent.

I really hope that he makes his big target for next year the Tour de Suisse: the complete set of the seven one-weekers is his best route to history. They tried to tempt him there with a route perfectly suited to him.

Of course the Tour is the One that every rider who could get it wants, but he just had the misfortune to become a contender at the wrong time.

It was obvious to anyone who knows him and saw it yesterday. This was yet another ugly KO.

And yet posters go out of their way to "cheer" him up, he just needs to be tough. Tis but a scratch. Or post here about the situation without even having watched it. Or use him crashing out of the Tour to talk about who's really suffering: their favourite rider. Heaps of BS false equivalences, jumping the shark to get the talking points out.

Let's just say that such behaviour has been noted.

Ofc this is all in. They made Vlasov and Hindley, both on their own on a leader contract for sure, his domestiques.

I understand they went through the motions, except neither Vlasov or Hindley really felt like domestiques really. Bora felt like a disorganized mess to me. In the case of the crash I feel the team is less at fault, but I think they haven't managed the race too well - Aldag himself said they really can't do anything about the other teams, so they won't.

I disagree in organization a bit. Think the team tried to be there and riding for him. Prep seemed to be gone wrong though. So the riders are too weak to be meaningful support.

He was looking better and better. I really believe that his goal was to be the best in week 3. But the fact that we were joking how long would it take him before he crashed says a lot. He lasted 10 days. It's a shame and I hope he comes back again. It wouldn't be the first, second, third... time.

Considering their level, it's quite normal. Hindley has been nowhere. Maybe he's demoralized, I have no idea & I can only speculate why he's much worse this season than the last couple of years. Vlasov was a very good teammate though.

As for Rog & the Tour, I think it's a case of stick a fork in it. It's done.

As a fan I don't think I even want to see him go back there. For the casuals who only watch the Tour they'll think he's just a crash merchant who DNF's every race. But with 4 GT's & over 80 career wins, there's so much more to this rider than the Tour de France & all the best memories are from other races in other countries.

Also listening to Denk on the ARD podcast weeks ago, they made the Tour squad train and ride together basically all season. All camps, for weeks. I would say thats as committed as it can get.

If they did a good job, considering the form Hindley showed up and the depth of the roster (Denz, Haller, van Poppel, Jungels, Sobrero are all decent riders but ofc not super domestiques like WvA - which would be an obvious signing) is another topic.
Theoretically they went all in, but in reality the team sucks at the TdF.
First of all stage 2 where it took some time before Vlasov and Hindley were chasing at the front.
Then what the hell did Denz, DvP, Haller and Sobrero do. They were hanging at the back of the peloton getting dropped by Bart van Lemmen (or however his name is spelled). Even yesterday, there was nobody around Rog. The team was not even for a second at the front.
Lastly, you said they made Vlasov and Hindley go all in. Realistically Vlasov and Hindley are just marginal top 10 riders and it is not like they were sacrificing a lot.

Super annoying, made it through so many sprint stages and the gravel one just to be caught so closely before we had almost only GC stages left.
Only small positive I see is that they at least made the decision right away and didn't try to proceed for a few days. Gives room for a potential Vuelta.

Sure. People's behavior after Valverde's crash in Düsseldorf was also noted, Netserk.

I suppose people will always be saying that he was a ski jumper and didn't come up through the ranks as a youngster so didn 't get the grounding etc . However you look at it, this was probably his last shot at the Tour to win, and when he crashed he looked the weakest of the "Big 4" so close, but once again, no cigar.

The thing about Roglic and TDF is that we don't know. Sure he lost 2020 TDF to Pogacar, but after that we don't know how good really is, or how good is his form. He can't show his true limits due to crashes.

We know from other races that he is almost at the same level as the godly twos.

He is very good in Vuelta, he is exceptionally good in one week races, he won Giro, and in all those races he beats or is very close to the "aliens" (Remco, Vingegaad, Pogacar).

But he must try again and again until he feels capable to compete with the best.

Get well soon Rogla and i am sure that it was the right decision been made. If there would still be even a remote chance, health vise, i am sure that Rogla would ride. So for some of us hence this Tour edition is over, said that looking forward to seeing Rogla ride again, training starts today again.

As for the Tour itself, a GT stage race, it's now rather obvious it's not about age, bike handling skills, Karma, Lady Luck or Zeus, or things like that. Eventually even the Tour will give in, to Rogla, it was just not the time yet, that is all there is to it.

Will wait for official announcements in regards to set schedule for the remainder of the season and lets now focus fully on that, Tour 2024 already history.

P.S. As for all the gloating and pettiness involved, from some. Not worth a response.
