Teams & Riders Everybody needs a little bit of Roglstomp in their lives

Good thing he DNF'd right there & then 13 days ago.

The last time something like this happened (2022 TdF) he raced around the Alps with a fracture. So that in & of itself didn't lead to the best of preparations for the Vuelta that year.

Also, I'm 'relieved' he seems mentally fine & it's just a physical problem. Bones can be healed, whereas the mental part is a bit more complicated.

So serious injury involved, at least this time the team taking it seriously. First and foremost health is what is important ATM, the rest will come. In regards to Vuelta, again a battle with time in full swing. Can the body heal enough, for participating to be considered safe, can the needed level of form be build ...

Although a good GT performance would be desired, still, Rogla is now mostly a Tour oriented rider. So the most important thing being for progress to be detected, entering races in the future. It would be nice if Rogla would be able to participate at Vuelta 2024, relatively healthy and in good form, team around him being strong. Otherwise i am sure that targeting future stage races will bring much joy again.

Remco down this bridge, Pogi crashing into the Dane in LBL, Vingegaard in Itzulia, Primoz in many races: the top guys need to be hard… When I remember Lance, he hardly ever crashed.

Primoz has to suffer a lot, he crashes oftenly. Vlasov not so much, so I was surprised. Hope they‘ll be back racing soon. Not what RBH was hoping for, but particularly in Primoz‘ case, he normally comes back strongly from injuries. Maybe he wins Lombardia this year?

Note that in road cycling such medals hold little to no value.
Hmmmmm

For me gold Ol medal is much much more valuable than world title. You can win world title every year, Ol is every 4 years. That fact alone ranks Ol higher. I will put gold medal in the same category as one tour win.

I know that right now the Ol medals are less valuable than even the monuments but i do think in the next few years the Ol race will become much more desired challenge

Just look how happy Djokovic was, when he finally won Ol tournament.

I think athletes at this level are extremely good at celebrating the wins they do get and focusing on future goals and not alternative scenarios.

So I don’t think Rogla would give up a gold medal that He earned and won on the day for a TdF title won on paper. His career isn’t over and he can still have some great wins up his sleeves, but he has good reason to be very proud of everything he achieved already.

But I also think in that in 2017 he would have picked the Tour over Olympic gold.
