Teams & Riders Everybody needs a little bit of Roglstomp in their lives

Both leaders wanted something more from yesterdays stage and due to having a healthy buffer they could afford to go for it, neither Rogla or Lipo raced in a way they where concerned about Onley. Both wanted to be aggressive and wanted more, unfortunately they were not rewarded for it, mostly due to Visma and UAE tactics. Hopefully today they go for it again and get more in return.

Rog is allowed to stage hunt.
Big tactical mistake form RB in my opinon. if they had a full team of GC helpers you might discuss it. But with the team they have - for whatever reason - Roglic should work for Lipowitz. And nothing else.
So Roglič should to everything to help Lipowitz get 3rd while destroy his own options?
Yes. That should have been his role from yesterday on. Last 5 days of the tour and 2.5 min behind his teammate i dont see any other logical ( :smirk: ) decision

None of that would be needed, if Lipo would use his brain. To run down your team leader for brainless new guy who doesn't listen...why?

We watch the Tour for entertainment. What you're suggesting is inherently anti-fun tbh.

Besides, context is king. This could be Rog's last Tour for all we know so I reckon a little leeway to chase his objectives here and just 'race' is allowed. Lipowitz is a big boy, he can handle Onley on his own (or at least should be able to).

The issue yesterday is Lipo got the heebie-jeebies when Rog's gap at the front extended and he saw Rog as his immediate rival for third.

@TrekCyclist

No true. Yesterday Rogla got freedom to go for the stage and that by itself didn't affect Lipo in any meaningful way as they secured a healthy buffer days prior. If they were concern about white jersey then Lipo should have stick to Onleys wheel. Lipo chose to ride more aggressively as he wanted more and ultimately wasn't rewarded for it. In retrospective it might have not been the best decision, for Lipo, on the other hand they could both have gained minutes, stage win, make inroads toward Jonas ... You know, they raced.

In the end and IMHO Rogla was more then generous, going along with it, not claiming sole leadership. On top of that if RBH wants to support multiple leaders at the Tour, then at least bring one mountain dom. Yesterday results lacked for RBH mostly due to UAE and Visma being vastly stronger on where it comes to doms.

Hear me out. Vingegaard attacks Pré. Roglic can follow because it's literally within the first hour of racing and Vingegaard is very tired himself. Pogacar and Roglic shock the world by working together and not hating each other. Feint German screaming in the distance. Rogla podiums while Vingegaard makes a 2km attack on top of La Plagne forcing Pogacar to win thes tage.

It's not too far-fetched.

As an avid observer of yesterday's stage, at one point in the valley when everyone was attacking each other in the front group we saw the camera pick up what seemed to be Pog having a playful bit of banter with Rog.

So the Slovenian hatemance turned bromance again just for a few seconds. And all Rog needs is a few minutes more. So I'm in @Red Rick.

I think any animosity between them didn't last super long and went by a while ago. It's just a thing people seem weirdly obsessed about.

I hope he can get the podium today. Lipovitz and onley will have their moments. I do think it is very unlikely though.

Regardless, 3rd vs 5th at this tour won't define his legacy in anyway
I think a 3rd place behind Pogacar and Vingegaard is quite meaningful still. Pogacar and Vingegaard have 5 1-2s together, and Roglic as the 3rd best GT rider of that era wouldn't be on the podium with them in any of them. That's underwhelming.

Honestly, despite finally not crashing during the Tour *knocks wood* he's been pretty unlucky with the impact of his good vs bad days and the strategy of rivals.

In Slovenian interview (smiling Rogla):

Journalist: "All or nothing move?"
Rogla: "There was more of nothing at the end, ehh. I enjoyed it. I give it all. At least I was on TV. Not at the end but nevertheless.
Journalist: "Would you change something?"
Rogla: "No, I would not. Thank you."

Yep. I was hoping for something like this today, i.e. way better to have a little fun than finish anonymously in 5th.
