Maybe he's making a point to Dumo that there's only room for one leader in this team. Good form Dumo could have smashed the Giro with Sunweb.

He is almost perfect for the Vuelta, and even more do for this Vuelta because there are much more mountains in the first week than in the third week so recovery won't be that much of an issue.

He's the most consistent rider I've seen in a long time.
Last time he wasn't among the very best in a stage race was Tirreno Adriatico 2018, 2 and a half years ago.
It's crazy.

IIRC he had a mechanical on the MTF there, and after he already lost time in the flat stage because of a crash, he took it easy. And he still won a stage there.

Valverde has done that for 15 years, it's still a long way for him.. ;)

Yes, that Tirreno was really bad. First they lost huge chunk of time in the TTT, then he lost some more on a flat stage due to a crash, won the murito finish, only to crash (!) on the uphil on the MTF. From there on in he only finished off the GC podium of a stage race once and that was 4th at the Tour that year (I didn't count the Dauphine this year, because he did not finish it - though he would almost certaintly win it without that crash).

For local Slovenian media Roglič said he had 5 minute max watts on stage during chase to peloton. So instead peak 5 minute effort on the last climb, he "burned" it when chasing before last climb. Also said they didn't risk it all on the descent hence needed to put more effort on false flate part. Saying he is relax, feeling no pressure, happy to be racing and that people have some entertainment during these difficult times.

So I don't think he is fading already, but next stages will tell how it is in reality.

I'm not sure what Jumbo thing they are doing by tiring out Roglic's two main mountain helpers on the day before a big MTF.
