Roglic will have 0 impact whatsoever at MSR. I still rate him a lot and that Milan Torino result was a pretty good one in my opinion.
But he has neither the team, nor the ability or shape to be in position for the chaos that is going to unfold at Cipressa or Poggio. He won't even finish top 20.

I really appreciate this sort of positivity. It's extremely uplifting. Thanks.

I agree with him. He is so prone to crashes and MSR is crazy fast before both final climbs.

Has anyone even crashed hard in the finale of MSR in recent years? Everyone makes a fuss about the Poggio descent but by and large everyone gets through. And Rog has actually done this race before.

I mean, is this a gospel choir or a discussion board?

It's beyond Captain Obvious to say Rog won't do anything. It's a quasi 300km Monument and he's up against freaks like Pog and Van der Poel. I mean duh.

Top 20 is possible though 'if' he can shimmy through and be well placed enough. That's still a big if. And if not? At least the weather should be good and he can ride around Italy for a day like 98% of the rest of the peloton who'll also "do nothing".

No but a lot of riders are not in the front because they are afraid to fight for position. Del Toro is an example of that.

Combo of TA and MT was a perfect buildup for Milano-Sanremo. Time to take that first win in the season. As for tactics, survive till Poggio and do nothing at all, then put down the hammer.

Hmm…was he practicing for MSR at Milano-Torino? Making the second to last climb hard to test out his legs for Cipressa/Poggio?

Team was wonderful till and on the penultimate climb but still a bit weaker then needed, to deliver Rogla on the ultimate climb. Rogla for sure was toying with the rest and in some good form. So the fact it was not all that important, to go all out, that should be beneficial for the Poggio effort.

Could be a coincidence but from when RBH started pacing until Roglic reached the summit, it was roughly 9-10 minutes effort, and I think he was playing with the powermeter just a few seconds after the summit...

Hmm, I think there’s not mass chaos on the descent of the Poggio) because only a select group make it over the top in contact (often in single file chasing) and anyone farther back (the main peloton if you will) is already out the podium spots so there’s no need to do a crazy descent.

Descent is fast and technical so one always needs to be vigilant, either riding in a small group or doing it solo. Good thing this season is Rogla and RBH don't need to over think it. The rest need to worry about every little detail there is and on how and what and when ... for Rogla and RBH it's basically just one thing involved, don't get dropped. Ideally two RBH riders would still be there in the first group on Poggio or even over it. If getting over Poggio with two would be a possibility then maybe it even makes less sense to attack and best to just continue as is and don't get dropped. We'll see.

Love that Roglic is doing the race, the more big stars in the race the better. But I don't see a path to victory for him. He's not going to win a sprint against MVDP, Pogi, or Del Toro if he makes the final group. Sneak off the front and keep those guys at bay? Not seeing that, someone will chase. Drop everyone on the descent? Not happening.

This is not a race on where anything is a sure thing.

His best bet is to attack in the last 2 km and hope that others look at each other

Think today showed that you literally need to be first 5 wheels on Cipressa by the time it launches. Other than that, nothing to say.

They didn't show anything from the chase on the Poggio at all.
