I don't remember the last time a real good Giro performance happened after Romandie

Kruijswik is also doin the Romandie, that's why I am thinking Primoz might not go full in. At least you'd think that with Giro aspiration it wouldn't be wise.

Zakarin was doing pretty well in 2016, up until his stage 19 crash. But I dont think too many people attempt that, so hard to get good stats on it (though it might say something that not many riders attempt it).

What a Giro we have in prospect. It would be weird if we discover that Dumoulin's time has already passed if he were to get beaten by Roglic, Yates and Bernal.

In any case, it would seem that Nibali is going to have to use some voodoo just to get onto the podium.

Yeah, it would be better for him just to focus in the time trials during the Tour of Romandie but I am not sure of he will take that approach. I still think the Tour of the Alps is the best approach for the Giro.
Anyway, don't you think that it would be better for him to do Giro-Vuelta rather than Giro-Tour this season?
Considering that is the first time he is doing two Grand Tours in the same season and a Vuelta route that suits him better than the Tour, I think he misses a good chance of fighting for two Grand Tours in the same season

Tour de Romandie this year has 5 stages + prologue. One stage is also a mountain TT. Yeah it's strange to go for it before the Giro.

Giro/Tour is by far the worst option of all 2GT combo's this year.

Isn't that double usually the worst if you're going after GC for two GTs.

Surely the best one-week stage racer at the moment?

Relatively new to the sport. 4th in last years Tour and current form tells me he is also one of the best over three weeks right now. We will see at the Giro.
I'm not disregarding his GT skills. I'm purely commenting on him winning virtually every one-week stage race he's entering.

Wasn't he the new Landa?

He still is. I can't think of any parameter that would separate them except for nationality. They even have the same birthyear.

I never understood the new Landa...Rominger makes a lot more sense, although we have yet to see how Primoz races with a target on his back, as a favorite to win it all. I remember two Romingers: one racing with and one racing without BigMig in the field. The former was too passive. And Rominger was also a better ITT specialist in his era than Roglic is right now. A better climber too. Premature of a comparison, but an interesting one. If Roglic gets the GT success that Tony achieved, that would be really good. I guess we'll find out...

I also struggle to see many similarities with Landa while I never saw Rominger riding.
Actually, his style on the bike, with the high cadence, the way he sometimes swings out of the saddle and even his physique reminds me a bit of Lance Armstrong although is probably better not to rename the thread after him

I always understood that Roglic was the new Landa in the sense that he was the new forum darling that is going to win all three GT's, LBL, GdL and the Grand National in one year.

But he has actually surpassed that now by actually delivering consistently.

Why can't it just be the Primoz Roglic Discussion Thread? He will ride/write his own story; and he's well on the way!

I miss the old days.

The days of appreciation threads

The days of depreciation threads.

The days of the I LOVE ALBERTO thread.

How long are we going to discuss this anyway?
It was meant as a joke, who the hell cares about the topic's name???

It needs to be mentioned in the title that he used to be a ski-jumper, I'm not sure if everybody here is aware.

I have never heard this before....

Did you follow ski jumping closely since you knew this?
