Great win today, making already important gains on his major rivals and huge gains on Landa and Zakarin.
Now he will probably play it safe in the first week and wait for next Sunday's time trial to make more damage, might try to win some bonus seconds in L'Aquila stage though.

Interesting article. That inner drive and ability to handle whatever training they throw at him. He clearly has some "natural" (a word I hesitate to use often) talent, but also was used to high-pressure competition. Even though he's 29 he probably has much fewer kms in him -- so you have a combination of talent, drive, maturity but also a relatively fresh body. I' m a fan.

Yes he seems to have well rounded abilities. Can climb, TT and descend as we saw in last year's Tour. You are right he came to the sport late so he might be 29, but has the legs of a 25 year old. He should actually continue to improve which is scary but it is his ability to ride strongly over three weeks which is still a question mark. But considering his late coming to the sport and after what we saw last season what we see this season is not that surprising.

I think maybe Roglic was a huge talent in the wrong sport when he was ski jumping wasting that aerobic engine.

He has set the bar pretty high.

Even if he smashes the next ITT and first real mountain stage... that 3rd week is brutal. You can dominate for a big portion of the race but it can be gone quick.

This will be very interesting to follow and I wonder how him and the team will handle the pressure.

The team is pretty strong. He himself looks to outclass others but he can come undone by tactics as Jumbo Visma are really bad at it. Consider that the TDF last year they had to chase for a long time in the crosswinds. Nibali's ambush of Krushweak is also not forgotten

"Nibali's ambush of building a huge wall of snow on top of mountain"*, but this time with another twitch? What is he going to do to Roglic? Building a ramp for Primoz to try and tempt him ski jumping his way down?

*Nibali's win was just dumb luck... Kruijswijk made a mistake

I don't think there's anything wrong with their tactics. Enough experience with Martens, Van Emden and Leezer

Well not really. Isolate your rival is cycling tactic no.1; Nibali isolated his man and forced a mistake.

But equally it wasn't really a tactical mistake on the day by Jumbo, they just didn't have anyone strong enough to still be there going over the Agnello. The team is stronger now and Roglic would have no need to panic if put in the same situation.

Everybody was isolated, Nibali as well, but he had a teammate 5k upfront.. Kruijswijk was injured and wouldn't be able to follow anyones wheel.

Nibali's win was anything but dumb luck. He first sent his best man up the road (late Scarponi  ), then measure his effort on Agnello very well (he was firstly dropped by Kruiswijk, Chaves and Valverde), then he force selection dropping Valverde (3rd overall) in the process, then he force on descent causing Kruijswijk to crash (bad luck maybe, but I doubt he would crash without Nibali's action), then he rejoined with Scarponi in the valley which directly prevented Valverde to make a contact with that group, and then he dropped Chaves on the final climb.
For me that was one hell of a ride!

He was well positioned and guided by his teammates but he was very lucky to escape all the chaos in the final. Things are looking good for now. Even in the last kilometre where some thought he looked terrible, I thought he looked completely fine and in control and I watched the final a couple of times. We'll see. Stage 6 and 7 will tell us a little and stage 9 will be the first real test.

What a ride it was by Nibali. Luck is part of cycling, but of course he was lucky. Who cares, he still won fair and square.

Not a good day for Jumbo Visma with the abandon of De Plus. I know he's been ill since the first stage and I was hoping he'll get better...oh well. Massive blow for Roglic's support in the mountains. Bahrain Merida probably heard he's in trouble, that's why they pushed the tempo for quite some time at the beginning of the stage.

He crashed yesterday. Tough stage today. Long and tricky stage tomorrow.

If Roglic not at his best in the ITT, that is good for everyone else. Manage the time loss. I think Roglic probably gonna gain time on the others but maybe not so much as he would had, if he is not fully recovered from the crash and feeling tired.

The others should definitely have tired legs also, we´ll see.

I can see Roglic being isolated very easily in the second and third week. He gonna have to be super strong.

Mountain domestiques are overated, they're only useful if you're weak, but Roglic is strong;)

He needs to be The Strongest in order to win, with such domestiques. They will attack him left and right in the mountains because of that last TT.
