Teams & Riders Everybody needs a little bit of Roglstomp in their lives

Page 404 - Get up to date with the latest news, scores & standings from the Cycling News Community.
Start times for tomorrow:

16.34 Remco Evenepoel
16.35 Primož Roglič
16.36 Stefan Küng
16.37 Filippo Ganna

Hopefully 14.45 JanTratnik.

Looks like a knee related issue (swollen knee) could be involved. Some say Jan avoided a car. Another accident happened today involving Molard from Groupama FDJ.

In theory JV can still replace Tratnik. But i do wonder if JV riders are reachable or might have turned off their phones.

Fingers crossed for the best outcome. Still for Jan it's a setback. All this training and now he might not even start. We'll see.

Losing Tratnik could genuinely make a difference. Only in case Dennis is close to his 2020 form, it might not matter too much, but Tratnik is like a Duracell bunny.

The real issue imho, will be whether this isn't starting to affect moral. Hope Tratnik is fine and can start the race without issues.

I think the point is the better your team is the less you need to rely on joint interests of other teams, the more you are in control and the better chances you have. I mean no one is saying this will be the game changer and that Rogla is now lost. And even if it does turn out to be a game changer I don’t think it will take anything away from Remco (which is all you guys are worried about). The race is long and there’s a high chance a clearly stronger rider will come out on top of it.

It’s just that Remco fans need to acknowledge Roglic is now in a not-insignificantly worse position than he was a couple of weeks ago due to bad luck. That’s all there is to it…
This is mearly laughable. Should Remco win it won't be because of the weakness of Roglic's team, but because he was stronger than Primoz. Secondly, there is no stronger rider than them, for which if a third candidate wins it shall be because disaster befell the other two or owing to some tactical anomaly.

This is the very definition of sloppy thinking. Let's all jump on the bandwagon that teams don't make a difference and are there just for the real show. Also, sponsors have a lot of money, so why not spent a more millions in those average and over the hill riders.

losing Tratnik is the biggest hit so far. he looked strong as an ox at LBL. he's great on the super long hard days. really big setback. Gloag might be a better climber though.
That needs to be seen. Tratnik is basically a train. Even though he isn't a real climber, he goes uphill really well for a rider his weight. In a hard stage after 3 weeks, i would put my money on Tratnik over Sosa, just to name one, for instance. So Gloag might be the better pure climber, but we'll have to see how that translates to 3 weeks of GT racing.

Looks like chances are leaning towards Gloag instead of Tratnik. Get well soon Jan. For Primož it's a good night rest now and that is the best thing he can do for now. Maybe to take pink tomorrow and then you get Remco? But OK if not tomorrow there will be plenty other chances.

Go Primož!

No, the sloppy thinking is on you. Teams matter in winning, but if a rider is the strongest he can win on his own. Roglic only needs to do well in the TTs and drop Remco in the mountains to win. He needs his team to ride tempo and control the break, but not to drop Evenepoel. That's on him. Now if Primoz is the strongest and has the strongest team, then Jumbo can kill the race. But Primoz losing to Evenepoel won't be because of the weakness of his team, rather simply that he wasn't stronger than Remco. There is a difference, and I mentioned this only in response to another poster anticipating that Remco fans would get all worked up should Roglic fans claim, were he to win, that it was only because Primoz had a weak team. That's the epitome of sloppy thinking.

I'm sure Remco lovers would feel absolutely the same if he looses half a team before the start of a GT.
