When I though Ineos would have the jersey soon I didn't think it'd be given to them by Remco's retirement. Sh*tty outcome for Remco, fans and his opponents as it looked to be a great race. Ineos is now in the spotlight.
Primoz has what it takes to contest this.
I didn't want to tempt fate (i.e. Rog could also suffer the same Covid disaster) with any post immediately after the Remco news. I'm sure Jumbo are as shocked this evening as everyone else is.
But, there's still a race. Thomas should technically wear pink on Tuesday & Ineos will have the lead.
For Roglič who has himself suffered so much bad luck in GT's over the past 4 years (including in the Giro 2019), this Evenepoel news is something that needs to be quickly processed by the team & they must refocus on beating Ineos now.
It's a 4th Grand Tour win now within touching distance.
