He looks like post ban Contador. Still a beast in w/kg but when he has a hard race before the final climb, his power isn't there anymore

IMO quite beyond the preparation issues he had, he's displaying a whole load of typical Giro-Tour double problems.

Watching Rog here is like watching Froome back in the 2018 TdF. He's getting to an 'okay' level where he at least looks like a competitive top 10 bike rider but I don't see anyone else who did the Giro doing anything in this TdF GC wise, i.e. he's on his own little island right now doing his own thing.

I don't see a combo of Lipowitz and Evenepoel working very well, as it would essentially relegate Remco to a passive role on any Ardennes-type stages.

Lipowitz seems like a guy that can actually drive a group from far way, so if the tactics is to 1 2 the opposition from far away he may actually work well with Remco. Unfortunately they both struggle with positioning

Not really, that Vuelta was harder than ever and he coped just fine. Think he had one day where he was really off due to heat/back issues.

Apparently he said after today that when he was Lipowitz‘s age he wasn‘t even cycling. He already had a pro win back then, so I assume he‘s either really confused about Lipowitz‘s and his own age or there was a mistranslation.

To be fair to him, I think this was in the context of an absolutely disgraceful ARD (German national broadcast) interview right after the stage.
Their on stage reporter Michael Antwerpes has been infamous for quite a while in the German cycling community for his absolutely tasteless approach in these interviews, e.g. telling Kämna after stage 10 in 2022 that he is in yellow (he didn't in the end, Pogacar kept it by 8 seconds) and trying to bait him into claiming GC leadership (after he moved up through a breakaway lol).
Today he went to Roglic, I guess because they have Bora access privilege or something and immidiately asked him 3 questions about Lipowitz and nothing else. Complete clownshow, I'm actually on board with athletes getting pressed in other circumstances to give away a bit more then just "blabla" but his approach in these immidiate post race interviews is an absolute joke. And this has happened before, I'm actually impressed Roglic continues to not bother, I would've refused to give them interviews by now.

So I'm not surprised he just gave some random answer to get his peace.

I think all riders should be advised not to talk to any reporters from German public broadcasters*, it has always been so since at least the days of Jürgen Emig, who was as bad as, if not worse, than Antwerpes.

I built his win in 25 minutes all out effort were he was dominant, in stages with a lot of climbing he never managed to drop Mas IIRC. He is probably still able to be consistent along 3 weeks, I don't doubt that, ma harder stages will be a significant obstacle for him.

Usyk is 38, some time shifted on stage 14 on the plus side a move up in GC. RBH with two strong GC riders, one more aggressive and one more conservative, responding to the attacks. On what will that come down to in week 3, we'll see. On top of possible strong performance on an ultimate climb Rogla is now eligible for a breakaway. Especially now, on where it seems UAE and Visma are deescalating and are becoming more interested in stage wins, team members.

I hope Primoz rests up and shows off his superior tan lines on the rest day. I'll be happy if he gets to Paris unscathed and top 5 position. Do you guys think he'll go to the Vuelta this year? I'm not sure he'll be great in the 3rd GT in a year, but you never know with Rogla. He's a beast and I have a new appreciation for this guy.

Roglic has never performed well relative on these stages relative to how good he was on unipuertos or just in general rather fresh efforts. Thats not even a question lol and when you get older and mybe isnt at 100% (who knows) that certainly doesnt help either. That has always been his weakness and is indisputable
