Tour is just one race out of many and Rogla should be supported in all races not just at Tour. Lipo was supported today on the ultimate climb. Once Rogla gets that i won't complain about the team support any more, then it's down to Rogla to deliver. Currently RBH doesn't provide that for Rogla and hence the critique.

Yeah, but to my way of thinking it's more watts than watts per kg on this climb. Just don't know if he has the pure wattage to stay with them. Could be, genuinely no idea. Whatever the case I can't imagine him losing more than a couple seconds, and should be in a group which can reel them back.
It's always relative, higher kg requires higher watts. It's the difference between weight and watts that determines net value, not absolute watts.

If the Tour is just one race, why did the complaining worsen during and after the 2025 edition even though he wasn’t even the best rider on his team?Currently he hasn’t been riding like he deserves that this season. He has much of a chance to win some races as I do, and that’s sad considering I have no name. That doesn’t remove all the hard work he received in the previous years.

I will state my case, Bora, if you plan to contest TDF, you can't go with any rider occupying a spot other than Primoz" proven " Roglic.
If there is a TT or any kind at TDF, can't be anyone better to get a result. If you are doing the Tour, nobody is cooler, calmer and more collected than Roglic. Nobody can race better under no GC pressure than Primoz..Bora, no matter who you pick, there is nothing better to further their chance than Roglic, he won't win Giro or Vuelta, so why race to place? Put his skills behind best rider
If you are fleshing up a roster, comparing resumes and results, you can't leave Roglic on the sidelines

You mean, because of gravity?

On steep gradients gravity is the dominant resistive force and VAM is almost linear to watts per kilo (climbing speed = power divided by gravity force). On shallower gradients the influence of air resistance is bigger: this force doesn't grow linearly with mass (but less, the power is 2/3 or even less depending on body shape and its position on the bike) so more powerful guys have advantage vs less powerful as they use additional power to fight air (assuming similar w/kg for both).

And where fighting air resistance isn't as big a factor on steeper grades, because speeds are lower, being lighter is better against the force of gravity? If so, why? Given similar power to weight ratios.

At the same W/kg, being bigger is just better, with the only exception being that shorter riders will benefit more from drafting, but that's probably not even making up for the already worse W/CdA.

It's just that being the ideal body composition for W/kg is under 65kg. I haven't really seen studies that very coherently explain why, but but I guess it just has something to do with the resistance of a cardiovascular system increasing with a greater length.

At speeds under 20 kph air resistance is very minor compared to the gravity (which is proportional to mass). On a 15% gradient one can actually eliminate air resistance from the equation and approximate it as a linear function:
VAM = A*power/(mass*g), where mass means rider+bike (and A is a constant a bit smaller than 1).
Additional bike weight means that ligher guys need a bit more w/kg than heavier to reach the same VAM (but it's a different story).

So based on such answer and the one in RBH thread we seem to now agree that Rogla currently isn't supported on the ultimate climbs by RBH.

@SHAD0W93

You argued Rogla is supported and even try to make up a list by whom, on the ultimate climbs, and now changed your mind, that he isn't. Note that i appreciate that.

As for you beating Rogla, well, everybody needs a bit of Roglstomp in their lives, no shame in that.

That’s not what I wrote but continue to be lost.

Roglic hasn’t been at his best, but he’s been a lot better over the last 12 months than he gets credit for.

2025
  • Dominant Catalunya win, winning the Montjuic circuit with a big gap, something no one could do this year, plus another win on a punchy finish
  • 2nd in the Giro ITT, less than 1 second back from Tarling
  • 3rd on Peyragaudes ITT, ahead of Remco, Lipowitz, etc. despite coming in slow after crashing out of the Tour
  • 3rd among GC riders from GC group, despite waiting for Lipowitz
  • 1 minute ahead of Lipowitz on Col de la Loze
  • 11th in a tough Worlds course despite having raced most of the Giro, much of it sick and hurt by injury, and the Tour
  • 5th in Emillia (not at his peak level, of course, but not horrendous)
2026
  • 7th in opening ITT of T-A, first race of the year, ahead of all GC riders
  • Not great in T-A climbs, but not miles off like Remco in UAE
  • 3rd in M-T, losing to a Pidcock who kept Pogi's wheel setting huge records in MSR just after by 5 seconds
  • MSR - nothing spectacular but in the main group over the climbs, which didn't require insignificant power

It's hanging on a thin balance I think.. I mean when you look at Roglic and listen his interviews it's hard to say is he done with motivation or is it lack of performance against younger athletes. Or both.

Some greatness still can be seen, when he's on a good day. It's probably very hard for Lipo to replay that 3rd overall in the Tour just like that. Opinion, but maybe team did shot themselves in the leg already by putting Remco and Lipo to the front seat. I mean, heck, even Sky had almost like three captains in some races and they about managed to make good results with that. Peoples management.

But hard to say. Maybe he's empty mentally and personally I see that totally acceptable, he has won a boatload of races after all.
