Will you humbly give credit when credit is due when you are proven incorrect?
What incorrect? No, I can not help wondering by a general Contador's perception that is built basically on the 2011 Giro and the 2009 Tour, when he could allegedly have generated 3-4 Verbiers if he'd needed to. According to many, everything we've seen in the GTs wasn't cycling at all. Really funny. :)

Should we take this as a no

In 2010 only Schleck was a factor. The rest was racing for 3rd place.

So I don't get what you mean, unless you think that the best GT specialist can easily win the Giro and the Tour in one season.

I think he is indirectly talking about the D word. That Contador's performances were not genuine ? Otherwise I am also confused.

in any case i always prefer not to be up in the clouds. the past guarantees nothing for contador especially with this Froome. Froome rode the Tour having something in the tank, the same as Contador in the Giro did.that will be interestng to compare them. though, in my view, to win the vuelta is easier then to finish 5th in the tour.

I suspect he's dealing with a lot of disappoinments what with Frank unable to race due to his unfortunate Tour drama, Andy still recovering from his injuries thus very likely having no results to speak of for the entire season, the Shack in a death spiral and Contador returning just when he thought things could get no worse. All of these incidences must be overwhelming. Tough times for Airstream.:(

I'm not saying Contador is going to return and simply destroy his opponents. I think he'll start slow and build his form & ultimately come out victorious. I'm not certain of what Froome can do in back to back grand tours since he has no history in this matter. I'm just hoping for an exciting race with an aggressive Contador bringing the pain in mountains when it matters, with the rest of the contenders staying out of trouble (crashes/injuries) so that we can see them all at their best, especially Quintana, Anton, Gesink and Purito.

Edit: ...and I hope Cobo arrives with 2011 Vuelta form and gives a good showing.

If Sky put a Strong Squad in.. And Ride Similar to the T de F ,, It is not gonna be easy to Beat the Froome Dog . If hes on Form that is..:)

I would love to see a poll about who'll win the Vuelta, because way too many people seem to think Froome can go head-to head with Contador.

He'll be looking at Alberto's back the entire time, until he gets out of sight that is.

There is a poll somewhere. Last time I looked it was about 84% in Contador's favour.

I'm a bit concerned about how good Froome looked in the tour, and he may even be Contador's match in the ITT (of which there are are not too many miles in the Vuelta, and many of those are uphill). The mountains are still unproven though, and he has not faced an on-form Alberto or Andy in their terrain.

Contador concentrating on one race ought to be an insurmountable obstacle for the competition.

This is a good point. Questions have been raised as to what impact the time away will have had on Contador. IMO, more than anything, the time away will have cleared his head. He has been racing for a number of years under a great deal of pressure (near death, doping allegations, Lance etc), without a substantial break. He only has to peak once this year and his sights are firmly on the Vuelta.

I can't wait for the show to begin.

Froome won't need motivation. He possibly could have won the last two grand tours he rode if he was team leader. Sky got their tactics wrong in the Vuelta 2011 although Cobo rode a great race. The third week might be hard for Froome and the fresher riders always seem to have the advantage when their opponents attempt two grand tours. I think Contador should win but the margin of victory could be interesting. Contador's lack of competition against Froome's previous workload.

The story about Froome as contender is because his climbing level is unknown.

Arguably Cadel Evans off form, Nibali and VdB are not the best test.

A rookie like Pinot match his last sprint in La Toussuire, in Peyragudes he destroyed the competition and had to wait Wiggo. At La Planche des Belles Filles he pushed the last two km and win the sprint by 2 seconds with Cadel and Wiggo. Nibali was 7 seconds behind.

In la Vuelta when was he free from his duties he was unable to make a gap with Cobo.

I see he is better than last year but still is far behind of the performances of Contador and even Andy's ones.

Hopefully next year we can see Contador vs Froome (as a leader) vs Andy (without Frank). To me will be like Tour 2009 where we settle an hierarchy. With Contador ban, Andy silly/unlucky season and SKY invasion we need a new hierarchy.

But is it confirmed that Henao is riding the Vuelta? I think someone wrote that he is doing the Quebec and Montreal GP's instead.

I'm still not sure where that rumour came from, because Henao has been on the provisional start list of the Vuelta since it's been up.

But it will be the first GT where we'll manage to value a real Froome's store. Before we saw only Pena Cabarga which сouldn't leave anyone indifferent and the PdBF spurt. Cobo was a wizard from an unreal happy end in the 3rd week of the Vuelta. I doubt Contador or Schleck could have dropped him.

The majority of those riders would have finished 20 minutes behind in the tour. One stage win in the Giro and De Gendt has become a great climber ? The Tour did not have much action in the mountains because of Sky's tactics, not because none of the climbers could climb.

20 minutes? lol. 10 mintues because of itt yes. but in the mountains all the riders I've named are better than wiggins, jvdb and nibali. save perhaps henao
