Like I predicted based on his Giro ITT he lost less than 2 minutes. Still a good chance for him to win the race! Vai Fabio!

Congrats to Aru on his very first GT Title :)
Will he overtake Nibali as the Team Leader? :D
He still needs to take those 3s and there are no more MTFs so he needs to try something more daring :)

This should make the race very enjoyable to watch. No doubt Aru will try with everything in him. Can't wait for the next couple of days.

Yep, we could have had a situation in which the gap might have been passable but at the risk of total loss of the podium (which could leave us with no action in the final stages). But a 3 second gap is simply too small for Astana not to try something. The race is still on. :)

Right now I'm just enjoying what I saw. A pure climber like Aru can't drop a big guy who is supposedly a time trial specialist. He climbed smarter and better. In one way I'd like to see Aru wins it other wise the Vuelta will start putting long time trial that benefits some GC contender with a good time trial. But on the other hand, if Dumoulin wins it, he deserves it because he did a phenomenal job in erasing the deficit and hang really well in the mountain. The fact is someone like quintana and valverde got outclimbed by Dumoulin :). So if he wins it, he deserves it. The pure climber should have been dropped him and gain more time in the mountain when they can.

Aru's greatest strength is his will power. I don't see him as a particularly talented rider, but his mental strength is so high that it compensates everything else. Ultimately, the will to win is what will make him one of the best. Much like Cristiano Ronaldo who worked his ass off everyday to be as good as he is today...

Lots of footballers work as hard as Cristiano Ronaldo. Most of them never even make it to the Premier League or La Liga because they don't have his incredible talent and athleticism.

I doubt Aru is working any harder that many of the top cyclists. I doubt he's capable of going into the red to a greater extent than cyclists that don't have memorable pain faces. Like Nairo.

We used to hear the same thing about Cadel Evans. That he worked harder with less talent than his rivals because he was far from elegant on the bike, especially when climbing out of the saddle, in style similar to Aru where he appears to be wrestling with his bike.

Well done Fabio, expertly executed today. He deserved this win, he fought throughout the Vuelta to achieve it. :)

Grande Aru! 2nd in il Giro (as well as two stages) and 1st in la Vuelta equals an amazing season. Will be interesting to see if he goes for Giro or Tour next season. Arguably the best GT-rider this season.

Nibali also won his first GT in Spain. Then he eventually went on to become one of few riders to have won all three GTs.

Who knows what the future has in store for Aru?

Nibali was also the same age as Aru is now when he did his Giro podium and vuelta win. :D

Their very similar, in more ways then one.

Nibali was actually older when he won the Vuelta in 2010. I think Vino could give him a shot at the Tour next year.

Congrats to Aru, he made a leap this year in performance. I have to admit, I had him wrong. Curious to see what the future has in store for him. He definitely confirmed that Astana should be putting their support behind him (rather than Nibs) for the immediate future.

Let him ride tour, so nibali can cause an awesome giro, because lets be honest, the tour can't be epic anyways ;)

Congratulations Aru! Very well deserved victory. He was by far the strongest throughout the Vuelta. I'm gutted for Dumoulin, but at least we got a very worthy winner :)
