I'm trying to find a stream, I was just assuming the obvious.

I really don't think it's very smart of them to try and score :)

Commentator is saying it now: They haven't shown signs of trying to keep it at 0-0, but if they don't score soon that moment is bound to come.

My guess is fifa made it clear to both Uruguay and mexico that the football federatons in each country will become fifas personal pinatas should the match end in a draw.

I guess they weren't too happy with the 3 goals scored against RSA by Uruguay already.
FIFA will have to have pulled some strings to get an African team in the second round.

Half time. Time for the South African football federation to, in exchange for the concession of a few more goals offer:

1 to throw its entire weight behind Frances 2026 world cup bid.
2 allow the french "steal african footballers programe" to expand into south africa (the same programme that made, among others, young ghanaian prodigy marcel desaliy into frances 2nd most important player in their world cup win)

I think SA can get a couple more. French football is going toes-up before our eyes and its the funniest sequence of events i've seen in a long time..

Domenech is obviously a halfwit and not up to it but you have to question the people who gave him the job in the first place.

He's a half-wit who came within a penalty miss by David Trezeguet from winning a World Cup.

But yes, it was obvious that he should've been sacked after the 2008 Euros, or even in the run-up to this WC when he clearly had the French performing horribly and had lost the confidence of the players

Crap.

Why do the French always ruin everything =/

Because that's who the French are. If they weren't annoying everyone by being self-important and haughty and were just pleasant live-and-let-live-ers they'd be Walloons.

I feel bad for South Africa. While I can't say they deserved it it would've been fantastic for them to go through. This is I think the first time ever that the host nation fails in advancing past the group stage. Am I right?

I think so. The honour for the host country with worst classification was held by Spain so far. They were ranked 12th in a tournament where the best 12 teams made through a second round consisting of 4 groups of 3.

Look on the bright side French fans- according to recent history you are now guaranteed at least a spot in the final match at WC 2014.

So the french meltdown is complete. Players sent home, players refusing to train, senior members of the fff resigning, physios resigning, players complaining of a traitor in the camp reporting things to the press, and only 1 point from three games..

There is going to be a lot of dirty laundry in dublin tonight as 4.5 million irishmen and women **** themselves laughing.

On the other hand, the Irish must be looking at that group and thinking what if.

relieved to see argentina score on greece. was beginning to fear greece would win the whole thing, relying on corners and own goals from their opponents. south korea i like a little.

Been away a few days. Am I happy? Heck no. First the dog gets run over on Saturday...then Kewell gets carded.

Did it stop there? Hell no! Referees I am sorry to say, are just like the UCI...corrupt and bought hacks. Not all of them but a lot. The goose on the Swiss/Chile game was incompetent. Sub par performance. Last time I saw failure on that scale was when a whale tried to jog on land. Pathetic!

But wait...there is more. Referee for Brazil/Ivory Coast is not handing out cards...but he misses, not 1, but 2 hand balls in a 3 second period that allow Luis Fabiano to score and change the shape of the match. FIFA, p1$$ing on the little guys! Well done. The referee then allows Brazil to dive, play up and act the bragant from the 70th minute onwards. Kidar Kieta decides, F%&K this, I'll do something about it and plays back and gets Kaka sent off. Brilliant! I loved it. Hilarious! Divers receiving their own desert dished into their faces. I was hoping for a brawl...Brazilians would have been smashed. Short story, I loved the irony in a Brazilian being punished for rough behaviour, being innocent and the incident being the exact thing Brazil had been pulling off the entire match. Even better was Kaka running to Drogba to save him from Didiers annoyed teammates. Priceless! MasterCard moment!

Then we go back to Chile versus Switzerland. How does Chile enter the match? Roughly, legs flaying and feet sliding. Aggression, unecessary brutish behaviour and who gets carded? A Swiss player, who'd copped a lot and for loosely tapping a Chilean in the upper neck region...ok two players. Rubbish! The Chileans were not hurt. Not even close. A warning, maybe yellow. No wonder my countrymen call footballers wimps and wooses. Soft little girls dropping like flies. Well it worked. Chile pulled off a win. I hope Spain annihilate those wimps, really go to work on them. The referee handed out so many cards I lost count. He was marshalling his own circus...it was nothing short of a joke and embarassment. FIFA...you suck!

There is a lot more but I've said too much. I think the referees are doing favours...bought men on the field. Favour certain teams and help others. How about the French red earlier? Rubbish...red cards do one thing, they reduce numbers on the field. Football is about numerical superiority, passing, shooting, possession and shot accuracy. This is all achieved through better strategy and tactics coupled with skill. More players increases the chance of you winning over an oponent with fewer men. Still think this is weird? It isn't... bad red carding and making dubois calls (free goals) is akin to match fixing. It is worse than doping...I cannot wait for the Europeans to tell me I am wrong.

Oh by the way...I loved Portugal's game. Awesome! Best football I have seen in a long time. Majestic and they did not dive, simulate or act like fools. They kept it clean and fair. They were simply amazing. Yes, I felt sorry for North Korea. Now I hope Portugal do the same to Brazil and embarass the Samba queens.

A NZ politician is pushing to make Friday a public holiday if New Zealand beat Paraguay. This actually will go to parliament tomorrow.
