I will keep pointing to the Portugal team. If Spain were that bad, that was a team that could beat them. And yet Spain dominated and won comfortably.

Portugal was horrible. Worse than Paraguay ;)

As strong as Spain can be...
...they haven't been as good as they were two years ago.
And even then they did only win 1:0. Against a pretty bad German side.

So looking at what I've seen in this tournement...I do feel your oppinion is somewhat unrealistic.

Portugal just defended and defended though. We've seen so far that Germany aren't afraid of attacking teams. And seeing as Spain have pretty much failed at attacking, I don't see why Germany would play the same way as Portugal.

Agree to disagree.

Considering some posters here predicted that Uruguay will beat Holland 4-0 my posts are pretty realistic. Also everyone here said Argentina would beat Germany. I disagreed, since i saw Germany as the stronger side, and i see Spain as the strongest side left in this tournament by a mile. Also they know now this is the best chance they will ever have to win it. they are 2 very winnable matches away and i think they will have enough to win both matches.

If casillias gets his £600 000 bonus it will be like Osama bin laden getting the nobel peace prize.

Well, I'm the one who predicted Uruguay 5 Holland 0.... And my reasons for that are clear. I now see AK is copying my tactic :p:p:p

Also, quit making so much out of one little comment Casillas made... Sheesh. Comparing him to bin Laden is a little much.

It was always quarter-finals max.
Now everyone seems to think Uruguay is like playing Spakenburg as a warm-up match for the final. Dutch arrogance, it cost us before and it'll cost us again.

Also I won't be able to handle a defeat in a World Cup final and the stress that comes in the days leading up to it.

im not comparing him to bin laden its called ratios

if 1: 100 ----------------- is 1000 : 100000

then
Casillias : £600 000 --------------------- is osama : nobel peace prize.

Besides im a little bit emotional. Last time Spain won (portugal) i got banned from another forum. The day Madrid - a city i love is brought to a standstill by chavs like villa and torres because they won a kick ball competition, will be a very very sad day for me.

No, it's like playing Spakenburg without Keesie Klompenmaker, their notorious striker.

Luis Suarez
This was the end of the World Cup. I had no choice. I have the 'Hand of God' now.

Says something about professional sportsmen: if I can't win, I have to cheat.

To make things worse, he congratulates himself by association. Just imagine what these farmboys would do without the tempering hand of Christianity.

Suarez is such a cretin he makes Rooney look like David Niven.

He made an emergency break foul, he got punished accordingly, Ghana blew it, end of story.
He would be a hero in any country that knows this sport if it got them through.

Says something about people in general and football fans it particular. I for one hope someday that macaques take over the world. :D

Cheating is when you try to secretly break the rules and escape punishment, in order to win. What happened here was all well within the rules of the game. The player committed a foul. Which trigger the second part of the rule: award a penalty kick, red card the player. All on the up and up.

Ive been trying to say this 2 days now.
Hopefully they will listen to you.

+ if i were him i would further justify it with - ref didnt give us a blatant penalty.

So he cheated then: I guess you missed him playing dumb and acting all 'who?me?' when the red card was shown.

I don't expect much from you, Stephens.

If you expect everyone to act like a cycnical POS, that's what you'll get; and what a wonderful world it is. You've been sucking at the teet of your hero for too long.

He actually got rid of his extreme diving act last season with ajax.
Stakes are higher now I guess and old habits die hard.

I don't think people are saying that we're automatically in the final now. But there is the sense among the people that if you can beat Brazil, then you should beat a team like Uruguay, who didn't play at all well vs. Ghana, and were better, but still unconvincing, against South Korea.

I agree that its a bit of a trap game trap game, but in that respect I think its good that we have a coach, with a good old fashioned Dutch name like Lambertus, who will not let victory get into the players head, and will keep them focussed as much as possible on Uruguay.

yes suarez is a cheat, but ive seen far worse, and he got punished for it. If he got away with it i would be calling for his head. Had Henry or maradona got punished for their cheating it wouldnt have caused any controversy. Suarez got punished. Ghana were lucky to have the chance to win the game right there right then. They got the chance and unfortunately for them, it wasnt to be.

For the record I'm not sore for Ghana; I just have this nasty streak of morality and cripplingly high expectations of over-indulged nancy boys. :p

Nice evasion! If you're that good with the ball at your feet, I need you on my pub team

Unfortunately at this time perhaps i should not evade the charge.

The great man has been diagnosed with terminal cancer and has 2 years to live.

If there is any time to be accused of sucking at his teet, and take the charge with dignity, it is now.

Yeah, it's a shame. He's a character and an interesting read. He'll probably do some career-best work now. Short time gives that kind of perspective.

His political opposite, Tony Judt, has done some good work on the decline due to motor-neurone disease.

On football-related matters, Would Tintin have won the Jules Rimet Trophy for Belgium? Herge missed a great opportunity there.

He made the most of it against South Africa to get that penalty. I saw him dive a few times in another game as well.
