that is just unfair.
Van persie is offside, and as a result uruguay are out.

edit: commentator says that they are finding a way to win games.

No the ref gave them a wrong goal. BIG difference.

Only Sneijder touched the ball for the Dutch second goal. Deflected off the Uruguayan centre back. Van Persie was offside, but he had the brains to leave the ball. So it is a goal. Ref was alert as well. He knew it was good.

Amazing stuff :D 1 more game...

I've seen refs ignore that interference rule quite a few times this WC anyway.

Sorry no instant replay. Until then we can change the outcome of the game.:D

I thought it was a good goal.

Too bad Uruguay is out. No more South Americans teams in the World Cup.:(

Umm NOOO

The player DOESNT have to touch it. By being there near the ball he causes problems for the goalkeeper who has to delay his save.
Goals are disallowed for this reason ALL the time.
If a striker is anywhere near the ball and is offside he is seen as active.
Offside.

But dont let facts spoil this great story ;)

Better team won though so not as such a big deal.

Also, Van P. didn't touch the ball, so how is it offside?

Some people really don't understand the rules.

Van Persie didn't touch the ball so it was never offside

Best example: the Cardozo offside against Spain in the match before this one. Cardozo did NOT touch the ball. The goal was disallowed. It was disallowed because his presence distracted the defenders.
Today Van persies presence distracted the goalkeeper. Hence offside.

So hopefully you werent reffering to me when you said that some people font understand the rules.

+1 but after the Argentinian goal was allowed to stand against Mexico i dont think offside exists.

Who do you guys think player of the tournament candidates are?

FUCK YEAH!!!!

Shame we'll lose to Germany or Spain though :p

:D :D HUP HOLLAND !!!!!
I'm so thrilled and happy.

1 more game... Despite what people have said about the dutch getting lucky, we have pretty much deserved to win every game we have played, and good teams make their own luck. And you cant exactly get an 'lucky' goal, without putting pressure on your opposition in the first place.
We fully deserve our spot in the final !

I'm nervous already...

Im hoping the Dutch get up , been a big fan ever since Bergkamp single handedly knopcked the poms out of the 94 World Cup , i also think Paston the NZ keeper deserves a mention for Keeper , had a sensational tournament

Mate, it's Sneijder. Sneij-der. "ij" in Dutch is comparable to "y" in other languages. ;)

And yes, we didn't win any games undeservedly, but like most people I feel like the best Dutch game is yet to come. Well, the final it is, then.

Yes.... It ricochets off two defenders, but it is Van Persie who 'distracts'.

Player of the tournament.... Well, i think Thomas Muller, but who will actually get the award will depend on who wins the tournament. If The Dutch win (not gonna happen obv.) it'll be Sneijder, if Germany wins it'll be (probably) Schweinsteiger or maybe the sympathy vote for Klose, and if Spain win it'll be Villa.

read the post below.

The post which mentions the oscar cardozo incident. Paraguay had a goal disallowed 4 days ago because Oscar Cardozo was standing in an offside position even though he didnt touch the ball. It was disallowed because he was deemed active, since his presence distracted the defenders allowing his partner (who was way onside) more space to shoot

By the same principle Van Persie who is standing between the goalie and the ball in an offside position is active, as his presence distracts the goalie, who doesnt know whether Van Persie is going to touch it or not, hence can not commit either way.

He was not in an offside position, so this conversation is silly. If you watch the replay, when the ball leaves the foot, he's even with the defenders.

the television line accross the midle at point of shot thing showed van p was a few centemitres offside at the point when schneider shot.
So the discussion is not pointless.

i know and i understand how it is pronounced my grammar nazi friend.. i live in Australia but family have always spoken dutch a fair bit -- was a typo. i do it alot (all languages), as i try to type too fast :p But I must admit I struggle to write in dutch haha. But yeah, no need for the explanation mate

and yes, we have seen glimpses of brilliance, but if they play their a-game, we will win imo, irregardless of who we verse.
