Once again. Uruguay had a stone cold penalty not given. Suarez is as much a cheat for handballing as Pansil (the guy who commited the foul in the box) is for not walking up to the ref and asking him to give a penalty to uruguay.

Ohhhh... Dunga apparantly refused to shake Bert van Marwijk's hand after the game. Sore loser.

Granted, he was probably pre-occupied with how he's going to make it to his house in Brazil without getting murdered 17 times over by furious football fans along the way, but still

Either way, I'm hoping Germany-Argentina will be a good game. At the moment I'm leaning Argentina, but i'll probably flip-flop on that several times before 16:00

they are better than slovakia and japan, both of whom netherlands only beat by one, and probably better than brazil in that qf.

They have a better chance of getting to the final, than they did of getting to the semi when they gave the penalty away.

Forlan is good.

And they have won the wc twice, the last time with the greatest upset in history, so they can give you a challenge.

Netherlands should win though.
You do say some strange things in this thread... preferring Arsenal's copy of the penalty taken by Saint Cruyff, and saying that Uruguay were better than Brazil last afternoon... seriously, what have you been smoking? Of course they weren't. Ghana just are a far weaker opponent than the Netherlands were to Brazil.

second half brazil were worse than uruguay.
Not first half brazil

they had no guy on the post for frikin sake. Thats the most basic rule. Their defending was that awful. Schneiders goal still would have gone in, but there should be a guy on the post. Most basic rule. Melo got himself sent off.
And their attack wasnt that great either. they had a few decent chances, but nothing that we can look back on and say that was almost a goal, other than the beautiful robihno dribble to kaka curler.

Uruguays attack will be worse. But their defence should play better. In this world cup, goals have been more rare and hence more important than usual. i dont think they will let in soft goals like brazil did yesterday. You might argue that its better to play uruguay without getting any free goals, than brazil when they make the mistakes they made yesterday but i disagree. I think Uruguay will defend and make it difficult.

And you give me the impression of not having seen arsenals version if you are surprised that i prefer it. They messesd it up badly. I hated arsenal back then and it was a great moment. Henry and Pires who seemingly could do no wrong came of like total idiots.
Sure Cruyf scored, and quite well, but when you look back, its moments like Crufs penalty which make you say meh, and moments like pires, henry which make you laugh.

as much as i dont want to see the world cup paraded through a european capital it looks like germany must be the team that has the best chance of taking it away from spain.
I really wanted argentina to win this, but germany has the defence to cope with spain, and the height to outmuscle them.

Lesser evil.

Exactly. Argentina will crush them. Although I hope they won't, so we get the pleasure of beating Germany in the final.

Thats what i thought 4 years ago when argentina were better than they are now and germany worse than they are now. This will be a lot more even.

far worse argentina than 2006 and better germany than 2006.

All I can say to that is that Argentina got exposed. The Argentina that struggled mightily in the South American qualifiers finally turned up. They'd just played against teams that couldn't hurt them.

Maradonna also showed why he is as shitty a manager as we all thought he was. Inconceivable that he leaves Higuain and to a lesser Tevez out there when they're not producing anything when you have Aguero and Milito on the bench. Pathetic.

not as bad as last time when argentina were dominating against germany and the guy took their 2 best players - crespo and RIQUELME off with half an hour + extra time to go.

We were watching it in Rotterdam with some Germans. That was fun for about 3 minutes ;)
Too bad that Muller didn't go to Maradona after his first goal, that would have been great.

Now let's hope for Holland-Germany as a dream final.

Well done to the Dutch. I loved how they won. Brazil are a joke. Their behaviour was awful. Better team won, the team that did not choke and stumble under pressure.

I did not think Germany would walk all over Argentina. Makes the Socceroos 4-0 loss look acceptable and not so bad.

Hopefully Spain wins against Paraguay and Germany have to fight hard to win this world cup. So far they have been the team of the Tournament.

Aussie comment is spot on. I figured Germany would never play that well against a decent opponent. I seriously underestimated them. The way they got through the defense in the first half hour was really impressive.

Don't hope Spain wins though. Paraguay is putting up a good fight so far.

to be fair, against australia it was germany attacking. Against england and argentina they showed off their defense and scored the bulk of their goals while the other team was pushing everyone forward.

Paraguay had the best 2 chances so far. Spain has been dominant but can't seem to deliver.

I was hoping the same against portugal - a far better team than paraguay, and spain scored.

Cant see Paraguay holding on. Would love it though.

I've been really disappointed with Spain play today, I don't know why Fabregas is on the bench and now he's coming in
