Well he actually almost deflected the ball into his own goal.
Besides this he closed his short corner. Any somewhat decent goalkeeper has to do this.

I seem to remember last world cup one of the problems England was trying to solve was to see if Lampard and Gerrard could co-exist in central midfield. Apparently four years on and they're stuck with the same problem.

Don't see why they shouldn't be great together, but they're just not. probably never will be. Just take lampard off.

But every single one of them he was crap.

It's been their problem for many years.
The problem is they can't just play without anyone else or they'll both be crap because they have no safety net. They need a third with specific characteristics. Barry who's injured, or Carrick who's been awful for months now.

The tournament is still so young, but yes, no team has yet to come out and assert their claim as heirs to the throne. No really dominating performances yet, though that may change by tomorrow or monday.
