It's not that they "deserve" Neymar being injured, nobody deserves to be injured, it's more that it is hypocritical for them to complain about the Colombians fouling their man when their gameplan for the Colombian playmakers was to foul them. The referee played into this by not taking any action for persistent fouls and physicality increased as the match went on as a result to the point where late on especially as frustrations rose among the Colombians and desperation increased among the Brazilian defending, the play went from niggling fouls to more serious ones. The Brazilians are simply unfortunate that on the occasion where the incident led to an injury, it was not only one of their players, but their most important player, who took the hit. It was a poor challenge by Zuñiga, no doubt, but it was in keeping with much of the rest of the game. It wasn't the Battle of Nürnberg or anything, but it deserved more cards than were given.

FWIW the refree was Spanish.

not suarez, but guys like zuniga should be banned retrospectively.
not that it was a very harsh foul from zuniga, but me thinks the degree to which you injure your opponent should at least co-determine the punishment you get.
if neymar is out for four weeks, so should zuniga.

So if you mistime a challenge and a bad landing causes the other player to break their leg, you should be out the same as somebody who launches a two footed dropkick on their opponent's kneecap to get the same result?

I dont wonder why all latin america dont like Argentina,I mean at least in football they play terrible this wc.
Like I said in previous match,Di maaria on the wing is a key player not messi. He is shadow of him barcelona -self,that last chance, that shot couldnt be worse:eek:

Belgians didnt know what to do,always in the air, headers etc.Hazard is probably the biggest 'surprise' of this WC.Lukaku should have played from beginning
I hope costa rica will eliminate Argentina, they play entertaining football at least.

Omg Argentina won every match just by one goal, ohhh with those opponents...

Costa Rica play entertaining football? Did you watch them against Greece?

Campbell will destroy the Dutch defense.

I don't know what to expect from Holland vs Costa Rica, the latest matches were so bad,so boring ,maybe this one could deliver some football,it' the World Cup FFS.
Since they have the same flag colors maybe both teams should play this game in same equipment this should guarantee some funny moments.

no, clearly not.
hence i said co-determine.
i.e. it should be taken into consideration.
in the more clear-cut cases, where a foul can objectively and clearly be seen to have been intentional and to have caused injury, if the victim is out for longer periods i think in such cases the offender should be out for the same period.
it will be a major deterrent.
you're right though, that there'll be mostly less clear-cut cases.

that was worse than group matches, but greek defence is a tough one and they played too defensive almost whole second half (Costa rica),but the first half wasnt so bad.I mean still better than nederland mexico ,arg suisse etc.

I really don't agree that this is the "best world cup ever".

Every knockout game has been won by the favourite. No high scoring games. No teams really pushing for the win in normal time.

You're right but the group stage was so crazy,so exciting to watch that everybody was expecting great things to come.Unfortunately looks like all the enthusiasm and joy is gone from this WC and every game is worse then the precedent.
