How is Florian Lipowitz in terms of popularity in Germany? Or German media? I managed to find some German articles from today.

Is he the third best climber in the world right now? Could he have won the Giro in this form? Interesting questions. If the progress continues he may become the 2nd best climber soon.

He dropped a 37'30 on Hautacam or whatever it was, that's not even 3rd best climber in 2014.

It's 11 years later though. Relative to now and not relative to some historic or fantasy comparison he should maybe rank quite high. But before we make any such conclusions, there's a lot of climbing yet to come.

Teams always say to have all the numbers, but today they had Lipowitz waiting Roglic for a few kilometers.
Without that wait, he would be closer to Remco in the overall standings.

Didn't the team know his numbers were superior to Roglic's? Why have they made him wait?

Well, they have the numbers that Roglič can do, which are much higher than the numbers he did today. I doubt they can predict what numbers the riders will do and I‘m not sure it‘s even allowed to monitor live data from the team car.

which is why I think he should be ambitious and go for 2nd in the GC. I sense he wants to race, take some risks which will be needed.

Depends if Jonas will burn himself again. But released from Rogla dutties at least he can try. Mountain TT tommorow will show if he is up to it.

I would guess he was virtually unknown before the Tour for most viewers. He was mentioned in the media before the Tour, but not in any significant way from what I saw. We will see.
He was an unknown on purpose for Bora until last year, he did ok when they tested him..He looked ok at Giro..and then dropped out..
and they gave him a retest at Vuelta..he passed the test in my opinion with some good rides and 7th in GC..
In comparison.. Lipowitz was way better than Del Toro who was at his first team test.. Florian beat Del Toro in youth, and GC..He beat Del Toro in both ITT efforts , only by 1 position in the final.. And 2025 obvious schedule differences with Del Toro to Giro, Lipowitz to the big show.. The irony is cool, both guys end up in surprise leadership roles because the guys supposed to be better than them aren't!!

"Both Primoz and I had our chances to make a move. I took my shot. A gap opened up, and I stayed with Onley. We’re two Bora riders sitting pretty in the general classification, which opens up a ton of possibilities for the days ahead."
